Jun 30, 2025 at 1:06 AM @AOTWClub Alina Baraz - It Was Divine Review: I’m going to be honest, I didn’t really enjoy this album. The issue is pretty similar to what I’ve said about the Clairo and Lorde albums, there just isn’t enough intensity in either the production or the vocals to keep things engaging. As I've mentioned before, the mellow tempos and soft vocals aren’t really my vibe. Some genres you can learn to appreciate over time but others, no matter how much you try, just don’t click. I wanted to like this and give it a solid score but I just couldn’t get into it. And in good conscience I couldn’t rate it the same as the Clipse album, so I had to dock a few points. Favorite songs: Morroco 5.8/10
Jun 30, 2025 at 1:08 AM Yeah, I knew you’d be one of the people who wouldn’t like this lol no problem though I know this isn’t for everybody. Thank you for the review. Morocco is pretty dope
Jun 30, 2025 at 1:42 AM He usually tallies the scores for the current week midway through the following week, so you probably would’ve been fine submitting before Wednesday next week without asking
Jul 1, 2025 at 3:56 PM XXXtentacion’s “?” is kind of all over the place, but in a way that shows how versatile he was trying to be. It jumps from aggressive rap to mellow acoustic songs to weird experimental stuff that doesn’t always land. The album feels more like a mixtape or a mood board than a focused project, but even with that, it’s a major step up from his previous release. You can tell he was starting to find his voice. Songs like Alone Pt. 3, Numb, and Changes show a more emotional and vulnerable side, while Infinity (888) with Joey Bada$$ proves he could actually hold his own lyrically when he wanted to. Schizophrenic is chaotic but weirdly entertaining, and The remedy for a broken heart brings that signature sadboy vibe in a way that feels real and not forced. It honestly makes his murder even more tragic. This album showed growth and potential that wasn’t there before. He was clearly experimenting and trying to evolve as an artist. “?” isn’t perfect, but it’s got glimpses of something more — and the fact that he’ll never get the chance to keep building on that is really sad. Score: 5/10 Favorite songs: Alone Pt.3, the remedy for a broken heart, Infinity (888) ft. Joey Bada$$, Numb, Schizophrenia Least favorite: Moonlight, I don’t even speak English, $$$ (ft, Matt Ox), and Introduction (will never make me not cringe.), I’m sure there’s more, SMASH! (ft. PnB Rock) Sorry if I took forever. @AOTWClub – Writing @Ripper Roo’s now.
