Aug 3, 2025 at 3:26 PM Funeral and suburbs are classics, listened to neon bible only once and enjoyed it too. Excited to get back to it!

Aug 4, 2025 at 4:23 PM They jumped me and left me for dead because I gave your last album selection a 7
Aug 4, 2025 at 10:56 PM I was definitely leaning toward a mixtape for the next round, but I’m cool with doing an album too. Still haven’t gotten around to the Freddy album, hoping to give it a listen in the next day or two. Btw, what’s up with every song being 7 minutes long? It’s 2025, our attention span can barely survive a Youtube short.
Aug 5, 2025 at 3:05 AM The songs are long because they evolve from live improvations. The members mostly belong to other NZ bands but have join forces to go on world tours each year for the last 2 decades.
Aug 5, 2025 at 6:52 AM Arcade Fire - Neon Bible RIPPER ROO’S RATING: 9/10 Nearly every track on Neon Bible feels like an event which is why I couldn’t choose any favorites. There’s so many grandiose passages here. Yet the album knows when to have moments where it slows and calms down. Because of this, the tracklist ends up having a natural flow that makes sense. The album is also wonderful at having moments of light and moments of darkness, sometimes the light and dark intertwine which makes for variety and unorthodox atmospheres. The only reasons I’m not rating this 10/10 is because I don’t identify with it a whole lot, and I don’t LOVE it. I’m not sure how often I will go back to this. With that being said, it is hard to ignore the immense talent that is on display here. I can hear Arcade Fire in a bunch of bands I hear today, they are definitely influential. Incredible body of work @AOTWClub
Aug 5, 2025 at 4:29 PM It’s super ultra mega confirmed, S80 members really do go outside. Take that, haterz! I always hated the term Keyboard Warriors, I always found the term Keyboard Athletes to be much more fitting.
Aug 5, 2025 at 4:52 PM Maybe detoxing from s80 can get some of the members on the site some b------s *cough @Marsh cough*
Aug 5, 2025 at 6:12 PM Speaking of tickets, is anybody going to see Freddie on his Alfredo tour? I've been thinking of going (I've never gone to a concert, period), but I haven't decided yet
Aug 5, 2025 at 6:45 PM I don't plan on going to see more concerts unless I get invited to one. I've already seen the bands I really wanted to catch live. There are a couple of lesser known bands I'd still love to see if they happen to come nearby, but that's about it. No rappers on the list lol. I think DMX would've been cool to see live just for the energy that he brought. Gibbs is dope too
Aug 6, 2025 at 2:26 AM @AOTWClub @Justin Trudeau Fat Freddy's Drop - Based On A True Story I went into this expecting to dislike it cause some of the reviews seemed a little harsh but I came away enjoying more than I thought I would! The lead singers voice is very nice for this groovy style and the woman vocalist on a couple of these tracks really work as well imo. I've been in the mood listening to Sublime and Pepper and bands like that and this scratches a similar itch in a different way. I like a lot of the instrumentation here for sure. I do think the songs lengths get in the way of itself sometimes but it didn't bother me too much most of the time, my complaint for the lengths would just be that it's going to influence how much I listen to this album as a whole instead of select songs. I'm keeping this one short cause my thoughts are pretty consistent across most of the record but I did have a good time with this for sure, it's very relaxing for a majority of it. Very good multitasking album to keep in a calm state. I can see myself going back to this one when I'm in certain moods and have it work even better for me and I want to say thanks to @Allis Mines for picking this cause I'd much rather an album be divisive like this than turning it all into a circle jerk lol, makes people confront what they like and don't like about some stuff in a more earnest way. Plus I got some nice tunes out of it! Favorite Songs: Cays Crays, This Room, Dark Days, Flashback, Roady RATING 7/10
Aug 6, 2025 at 2:30 AM I've been meaning to listen to Funeral for years now and never got to it so I suppose this'll be my first Arcade Fire album experience lol. Exciting!
Aug 6, 2025 at 2:32 AM @AOTWClub Fat Freddy's Drop - Based on a True Story Review This review will be short, unlike the songs on this album. Jokes aside, it’s a pretty solid listen. Not quite engaging enough to sit through on its own, but it works well as background music. That said, the songs drag on way too long and it definitely holds the album back. Not something I’d return to, but hey, it's not bad. Thanks for sharing. 6/10
