Aug 7, 2025 at 2:25 PM Based on a True Story - Fat Freddy’s Drop REVIEW Score: 7.0 Review: Going in, I thought I’d like this a lot less than I did. Seeing different reviews and seeing the length of a lot of these tracks made me think I’d be turned off from the album relatively quickly, but honestly that wasn’t the case. Did some tracks not hit for me or some still felt too long despite me liking them? Yeah sure, but it’s not like I had a bad experience with this album. Now if the instrumentation and singing were worse…we would be having a totally different convo right now. At least if the tracks are gonna be long, they are nice sounding. This may sound dumb, because concerts are always an experience in themselves no matter the music, but for lack of better words I feel like this album was meant to be experienced live more than to be listened to over and over on streaming. Allis said this album is inspired a lot by live improv, and you can tell.
