Initially I didn't like the R&B section all that much but it's been growing on me with subsequent listens, liking the whole record more the more I listen. Gonna be hard to top The Forever Story to me cause I think that record is d--- near perfect but this is still great.

I personally think The Forever Story is his best by far, the Dicaprio 2 mixtape also has a place in my heart cause the first half is some of my favorite songs to rap along to.

But all of his projects are good to great

The more I listen the more and more I enjoy it, really like every song now. Definitely deserves to be in year end conversations for an already strong year for music (imo)

Thanks, will check them out. I’ve slept on JID (with the exception of the Clipse album) I haven’t been this I haven’t been this impressed with a rap album in nearly a decade. I knew JID was very talented as a rapper, but I didn’t realize he was also so gifted in putting songs and albums together. Not to belabor the Cole comparisons, but I feel like this is where Cole really fell down in terms of potential as an artist for me.

Still can’t put my finger on it, but I could tell from the way JID carried himself at the beginning of the second verse in Glory (before the beat switch) that he gets how to structure songs. The sense of narrative, progression, and storytelling he was exuding l extended throughout the album for me.

Super excited to see where his career goes from here.

Saw JID’s interview on the Budden podcast, where he said he both wanted to hug Malice and that he was pissed at him for how badly he killed that verse. Very much “Eminem murdered you in your own s---” vibes
