Agree completely with your reasoning — this is the only logical thought process that explains his behavior. But for someone who has historically been brilliant about optics and public perception, it’s difficult to fathom how he fails to see how poorly this reflects on him.

Drake losing the battle didn’t change my perception of his character in any meaningful way, but his inability to take the L like a man by essentially seeking a round 2 via litigation — combined with his actions throughout the suit — has irreconcilably eroded my perception of his character and who he is as a man.

The irony is that every legal action he takes only serves to give credibility to many of the non-hyperbolic character deficits highlighted by Kendrick throughout the battle and underscored by multiple others in the industry who have interacted with Drake.

Can’t emphasize enough how well this has aged with time: F**k a rap battle, this a long-life battle with yourself…

That is true, Drake used to be very calculated. I think Kendrick out-calculating him in the rap battle potentially set him off, especially when Kendrick stepped on “Family Matters” by dropping “meet the grahams” 30 minutes later or however long it was. I also heard someone online say the other day that since Drake lost, he wants the industry to lose with him. If he’s going down, he wants to drag the industry down with him. It’s not a bad theory.

Absolutely. I feel like this should be the view of anybody who isn’t a blind dickrider of Drake. Sure you can still like his music, but you gotta separate that from this lawsuit. Drake is being a sore loser and anti-hip hop. One thing about life is you gotta know how to take an L. The way he is acting after losing is just giving him even more Ls. If he would’ve just moved on and taken the loss like a man, people could’ve respected him a lot more.

Exactly. “euphoria”, the last verse of “meet the grahams”, and the hook/idea of “Not Like Us” are aging very well in particular. Drake is proving Kendrick’s point for him. Honestly, I think if ICEMAN isn’t a good album things are going to get a lot worse for Drake. If he can manage to drop a good album, at least some people might forget how bad he’s been embarrassed throughout 2024 and 2025.

Agree with all of the above, especially the ICEMAN theory. At first, I thought he might just be throwing out an album of whatever to get done with his current contract, but the way his camp has been hyping it about how hard he’s working on this album, we’ve got to assume that this is actually an honest effort by him at making good music.

At this point Drake will never be taken seriously in Hip hop circles ever again. We even heard some of the songs on the album and nothing screams hit. This generation ain’t gonna be sliding with him no more. 2016 Drake had memes and Smash hits every single he dropped. Times have changed. He don’t got the crown and his fandom is shrinking.
