Aug 20, 2025 at 12:18 PM Failure - Fantastic Planet review I was insanely excited to get into this album the second I saw it get picked for this week. As I said, I got really intrigued by the cover art but did not really know what to expect sonically; boy was I delighted to be greeted by this meticulously well put together combination of grunge, alt-rock, and even some space rock (courtesy of spacemen3 and the goat Jason Pierce). It did take me a few days to sit down and have a proper front to back listen, the terrible heat, combined with constantly having some jarring s--- to get done on the side made me unable to focus and give the project the attention it deserved. The payout was pretty d--- grand once I finally did sit down and played the whole thing. Perhaps some would have an issue with the singer, Ken Andrews, sometimes sounding a tad bit derivative of other 90s grunge vocalists, but such isn’t the case for me. I found the vocals on here to be absolutely killer. Same goes for the choruses which sound absolutely huge and as such help elevate the very fuzzy sounding instrumentals which are brimming with textures. I mustn’t forget to mention the great, catchy melodies and the very consistent aesthetic that is achieved here. Although I enjoyed the vast majority of this album, I must say that it is a very backloaded record. The second half really does go above and beyond and is where the album peaks. s---, the run with the last 5 tracks is probably my favorite portion of this album, while Segue 1-3 is what I truthfully could’ve done without. Thanks @Wreckless for the great pick! Has got to be one of my favorite discoveries that I found through this group. Excuse the shorter review, I was trying to write more but the words wouldn’t come out. 9/10 @AOTWClub @Justin Trudeau
Aug 20, 2025 at 7:01 PM Been replaying this song for hours, such a f---ing gem. I’ll probably get even crazier about this album as time goes by.
Aug 20, 2025 at 7:36 PM I agree. Sick track. If you’re ever in the mood for more music, I’ve got a few recs. The first one’s been on nonstop repeat for me the past couple months Thanks for the review btw

Aug 21, 2025 at 4:27 PM Lana Del Rey - Norman f---ing Rockwell! Favorites: f--- it I love you, How to disappear, California, The Next Best American Record, The greatest RIPPER ROO’S RATING: 9/10 This is an amazing album. Some songs drag on too long and blend together but other than that I don’t have many issues with this album. Like most Lana albums, I have almost nothing to actually say about this album. The music speaks for itself. Here’s some of my favorite lyrics from California: “You don't ever have to be stronger than you really are When you're lying in my arms, and, honey You don't ever have to act cooler than you think you should You're brighter than the brightest stars” I like these lyrics because I see a lot of people these days, especially on this forum, acting tougher and cooler than they actually are and I think they could take this advice. @AOTWClub
