Aug 22, 2025 at 12:22 AM Another one for me to talk to myself, big chance for this to be your resident white boys AOTY
Aug 24, 2025 at 1:44 AM This isn't as immediately hooky or bouncy as their last two records but it's replaced by an even more melancholic sound that produces a lot more maturity out of most of the record. Tades' writing is just as strong as ever and his knack for creating strong visuals through his lyrics shine through the best parts of this album. I wish some songs and interludes got more time to breathe and although "You'll Be Fine" and "Why Would I Watch" are hard albums to top for me cause they hit me at a super important time and have become some of my favorite records ever made I can say this is a d--- good follow up that only gets better with subsequent listens. Some of the sounds and rawness give off an evolution of their even older work which is interesting at this stage in their discography but its really appreciated espeically for the fans that were missing those vibes. I'm about 4 spins in on this and decided to finally pay attention and read all the lyrics then preceeded to cry at like 3 or 4 different songs lmao, there's no f---ing world in which a song called "Monica Lewinskibidi" should be that emotionally devastating. Great year for music just got stronger with an album that was probably always gonna be an AOTY contender for me
Aug 24, 2025 at 1:32 PM I loved their last album so I’m gonna try to check this out today and report back with my thoughts
Aug 24, 2025 at 7:49 PM I’ve only listened once and agree with what you’re saying here. I don’t know if I like it more or less than their last album as it’s hard to tell that from a first listen, but it’s another great album from them. The 1st 4 tracks were nice but the album really started to hit for me on track 5. That section of the album from track 5 to track 8 is the best part of the album to me so far, it really packs an emotional punch all put together. I thought Bon Jonah was relatable as f--- but then Monica Lewinskibidi almost made me cry. All in all my favorite tracks so far are Bon Jonah, Monica Lewinskibidi, Mix Master Wade on the Beat, Carbon Monoxide Hotel, and probably Slumdog Scungillionaire.
Aug 24, 2025 at 8:38 PM Yeah we have pretty similar favorites, I really appreciate a super consistent band. They're honestly really close if not already my favorite band but they don't have someone as hot as Hayley Williams so I need to keep the parasocial posting energy to Paramore
