Aug 24, 2025 at 1:24 PM It’s hard to say rap is a young man’s game anymore when, at least in the mainstream, most of the popular active rappers are 30+ now. Kendrick Lamar and Drake are the biggest rappers in the world right now and are pushing 40. Even JID is 34. Future is 41, Uzi is 31, Carti is pushing 30, Travis Scott is 34
Aug 24, 2025 at 1:34 PM I’m not saying 30s is old by the way. If anything, it’s starting to seem like 30s is the new 20s.

Aug 24, 2025 at 1:59 PM I can't speak about many other rappers but Eminem's peak was during his mid to late twenties (MMLP-TES). It would have been interesting to see how long he maintained that quality of music in an alternate universe where drugs didn't get the better of him.
Aug 24, 2025 at 2:07 PM I’m not sure he could’ve kept up the level of quality that he had on MMLP and TES because that level of quality is rare to begin with, but I think his subsequent albums would still be very good had drugs not taken over. With how close he’s getting to his MMLP and TES self on DoSS in his 50s, I think he could’ve easily done that in his 30s as well
Aug 24, 2025 at 2:18 PM Didn’t the filming of 8 Mile really exacerbate his drug usage? Imagine if he never filmed 8 Mile. Maybe he would’ve never overdosed. But then he wouldn’t be as popular and wouldn’t have his biggest song in “Lose Yourself”. I don’t know though, if Proof’s death still happened in this hypothetical scenario he’d probably still overdose anyway
Aug 24, 2025 at 2:33 PM MMLP was already the biggest Rap album of all time and fastest selling before then. That was the first peak.
Aug 24, 2025 at 3:16 PM @Marsh how’s it feel to know your Rap God supports the Girls & Gays, They/Them and all in between?
Aug 24, 2025 at 4:19 PM I was playing a character, that’s how I would characterize lyrics. But America, I could see the fear in your eyes. You saw my terrible side, the blonde hair and blue eyes
