Wasn't there supposedly an earlier version with "the devil came to Michigan" in the intro instead of the Obie snippet? Which I thought seemed plausible since I'd speculated that that vocal was from 2001. If true then it seems likely this version had different vocals than the ones we know.
Sep 1, 2025 at 6:01 PM I'm sure there are a few versions. It would be interesting to know how they do all that internally. For instance when he has a fully finished song so they use that exact date as a finish date or do they piece it all together and keep a record over what was done when? Also Eminem tells a story where he went away for a weekend somewhere and took a bunch of beats he had for The Eminem Show and spent the weekend writing to them. Apparently he called Paul to say he thinks he's got it and Paul says don't play it over the phone he wants to fly to Detroit to hear it in person. Joe says "the devil came to Michigan" was the original intro to Without Me. I just find these two songs supposedly recorded or finished one month apart and you can hear the similarities and differences in his voice. He must have really changed how he rapped and the pitch he rapped at for Without Me or he knew he had to make his voice sound upbeat.
Sep 1, 2025 at 6:17 PM According to the source the beat was made at least a month later (assuming Everybody's Looking was in fact recorded in June 01) but it took up to three months for him to finish the verses. Four months would be a trivial difference if we were talking about pretty much any other rapper. His whole sound had changed a lot from DN to TES overall.

Sep 2, 2025 at 8:06 AM This ended up being way more successful than I expected. Lowkey thought it would flop and only people who spend all day on Eminem Reddit would watch. This seems to hit and has been number 1 on streaming for a week straight and did decent at the box office for a 2 day limited release. It’s also eligible for award season.
