Aug 31, 2025 at 12:07 AM Like @Yeez , my album’s artist has been in the news a lot lately. Originally, I said that due to the announcement of her new album, The Life of a Showgirl releasing in October, but this past week she recently celebrated being engaged to one of the NFL’s current superstars, Travis Kelce. We all know who I’m talking about, so let me not beat around the bush anymore. My pick is… folklore by Taylor Swift folklore is one of two albums that Taylor released during the COVID-19 Pandemic in 2020, and was very different from the rest of her discography at the time. I truly believe, no matter how you feel about Taylor, that this project has at least SOMETHING for you. There’s even a story/concept to this project that I won’t spoil for those who have never listened before. Out of all the albums in Taylor’s discography, this one is definitely my favorite. I hope you guys all enjoy this album as much as I do! Also fitting that I pick this album in August, on the last weekend as well! Can’t wait to hear everyone’s thoughts and opinions, enjoy! @AOTWClub @Justin Trudeau https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_nWgO-2lNMsx90439Yx0xTWCGIktUc74e8&si=f0rdk8IWVu-8iYMV

Aug 31, 2025 at 6:33 PM I'm going to guess this isn’t dance-pop like Shake It Off, but has soft vocals and a mellow vibe.
Sep 1, 2025 at 10:55 PM @AOTWClub Tragically Hip - Up to Here Review: This was a fun boomer rock album that’s solid all the way through. After two listens, I haven’t picked clear favorites yet, but I'd favor the first half the most. It’s not an album I’d keep in heavy rotation, but it’s one I’d happily revisit every now and then. The singer’s voice stands out and there are some solid riffs and melodies which makes me want to explore more of their music. Part of what made this listen special was how familiar the vocals felt. After a bit of digging, I traced it back to ‘’Day for Night’’ an album I’d heard as a kid. My dad used to blast one of its songs all the time and hearing it again hit me hard in the feels. It was nice to revisit. That sense of familiarity definitely made me appreciate ‘’Up to Here’’ even more. Canada has some underrated bands and Tragically Hip feels like one of them. 8/10
Sep 3, 2025 at 7:31 PM The Tragically Hip - Up To Here review I did not know what to expect from this because I honestly never really heard of this band and knew nothing at all about their work. Having been dealt with a mystery like such, I was excited to dive in and discover something new. It took me less than a single listen to conclude that Up To Here is one of those debuts that immediately tells you what the band is about. It’s a loud, bluesy effort that is built around grit and energy. No polish required lol. The band’s essence is captured early, within the very first seconds of Blow at High Dough. This essence is one consisting of big riffs, catchy drums and a frontman with plenty of personality. The album did feel a tad spotty quality-wise but its highs made up for it. New Orleans Is Sinking is an obvious highlight because of the track’s swampy and almost hypnotic quality. The lyricism on this song stuck out to me despite me not having the slightest idea of what any of it meant lmao. I am a huge sucker for cryptic ramblings over rock grooves. Boots or Hearts, on the other hand, is more stripped back, more melodic, and easily the catchiest tune on here. I feel like it helps the album breathe and makes the tracklist more interesting from a stylistical standpoint. My sole problem with this album would be how formulaic some of it sounds. This ‘boomer rock’ formula, as some of y’all mentioned, is satisfying when done right and in proper doses, but doesn’t always leave room for variety. Certain songs don’t really stand out the way the key tracks do. The run of tracks near the end of the album may not be filler, but it also didn’t really demand to be replayed. I still feel like most of these songs have a great blues rawness behind them, they probably come to life in concert and stick out more than the studio versions do. Although I don’t think this album is perfect, I still had a lot of fun with it. There’s a lot of songs on here that I’ll be replaying once the dad-rock mosquito bites my a--- and I need something to scratch the itch. I want to thank mister @Justin Trudeau for the interesting, novelty pick. Super glad to have been exposed to this piece of Canadiana . 7/10 @AOTWClub
Sep 3, 2025 at 11:53 PM @Justin Trudeau @AOTWClub The Tragically Hip - Up To Here I'll probably keep this one relatively short. The only experience I've had with The Tragically Hip is their song Bobcaygeon which I quite enjoy, I've always enjoyed this kind of rock and this album is no different in my enjoyment. First off I think the lead singers voice is great for the kind of music it is, his song writing is super vivid and interesting too. I think the writing is honestly the strong suit here, although it's not like the band are slouches either. This is an album that works well as both an active and a background listen, I don't really have any problems or least favorite songs with it either. Some track may not be as strong as others but nothing felt like the obvious weak link, although I do want to point out what was by far my favorite song which is 38 Years Old. Everything from the sound to the writing on that track is pretty pitch perfect for me, I love how bluntly the story is told and it evokes strong imagery. I've always liked this kind of music since a young age and I'll continue to have a soft spot for it even if I don't listen that often. I tend to get into moods where I get really into certain genres and this album really wants to make me listen to more of them and CCR and such. While it's not something I'd go back to incredibly often I really enjoyed my time here and will keep the record saved for when the mood strikes which is feeling mighty soon! Favorite Songs: Blow At High Dough, 38 Years Old, She Didn't Know, Trickle Down, Opiates RATING: 7.5/10
Sep 3, 2025 at 11:55 PM Can see my personal score raise an extra half point or two in the future but a very solid album all around and I'm happy @Justin Trudeau introduced me to it! Lot of talented Canadians out there that get overshadowed by the cringier ones lmao
Sep 4, 2025 at 2:04 AM Anyone in @AOTWClub that wants to check out more Tragically Hip id reccommend the "Yer Favorites" greatest hits album has all their best work. And to be honest after that was released their following albums didn't have quite the same amount of "hits" Glad you guys are enjoying, they were my first concert i ever went to when I was like 15!
