Sep 8, 2025 at 10:10 AM That's crazy cause I never said anything about Tyler or Clipse, it's almost like more music exists than the same 4 people you keep harping on about.
Sep 8, 2025 at 2:15 PM I said my personal favorite albums. You're the one who keeps making everything about awards, why would you care? d--- near all the albums I love this year will not be getting any accolades but it's good music. Being stuck in the hype cycle is what gives you the taste of a 15yo
Sep 8, 2025 at 5:13 PM lol the albums I mentioned didn't get any awards I guess? I don't follow those artists enough to even know. And you know 15yos bump trap not the stuff I listen to like Weeknd or Lana, fool.
Sep 8, 2025 at 5:23 PM as a zoomer, i can attest to the fact that high schoolers bump Weeknd and Lana all the time. Blinding Lights & A&W were everywhere
Sep 8, 2025 at 6:36 PM That's not what I said but I won't succumb to the Marsh ragebait as to not derail the thread
Sep 8, 2025 at 8:09 PM Weeknd and Lana are like zoomer gateway artists to getting to the actual snobby Rate Your Music s---
Sep 8, 2025 at 11:54 PM It’s gotten real bad. Ever since I made that roast thread on him he’s getting roasted in almost every thread and that roast thread was almost 2 months ago at this point.
Sep 9, 2025 at 1:25 AM @AOTWClub @Justin Trudeau Taylor Swift - Folklore I'll get this out of the way, this is easily my favorite album of hers I've heard. Every criticism I have of her music is still here but it annoys me the least. I really didn't like this album very much on first listen cause I was expecting a more traditional folk sound for some reason and the writing wasn't really doing it for me which is par for the course so I kinda soured on it rather quick. Just gave it another listen and it grew on me a lot, the production is better than I was giving it credit for, there was some catchy melodies, the writing on a handful of the songs were better than I was giving them credit for. Taylor Swift kinda does the white woman version of what emo bands do actually, they write overwrought songs about s--- everyone goes through but romanticized and catastrophized to the point of making it sound more important than it is lol. It works to be relatable for your audience it's just attached to music I like less so it doesn't hit me the same. I think the beginning run from The 1 to Exile is pretty good (I really need to listen to Bon Iver) the two listed above were my favorites of the opening tracks but Cardigan was cool and The Last Great American Dynasty was kinda neat conceptually. Most of My Tears Richochet works for me outside of a couple lines, Mirrorball is fine and albeit relatively relatable to myself with a few lines. Seven and August were pretty good, Seven has one of the stronger melodies on the record for sure. This Is Me Trying, and Illicit Affairs follow the streak of being decent. Invisible String is pretty cute and well written, I've heard similar metaphors in songs before but not for a whole song. Although I don't hate any songs here and actually like Peace I think the run from Mad Woman to Hoax (Hoax was another one i enjoyed) is where the album starts to grate on me a bit. Even though it was more appealing to me on another listen I do think this album doesn't do enough sonically to keep me interested for its whole runtime so the last leg feels like a bit of a slog to get through imo. Another thing contributing to this is that she stays in a pretty similar space in her register the whole album, it doesn't sound bad at all and she's competent but her voice has never been anything super special to me personally. Overall I think this is definitely and best, most cohesive, least cringe body of work I've heard from her with pretty consistent writing and production to back it up. I can't imagine I'm going to enjoy another record from her the same amount but I've also heard good things about Evermore so theres a chance that can overtake this. I appreciate the pick @DiggleDogg69 cause it was probably going to be ages before I got to this myself and it was kinda fun forcing myself to not be a devout hater for a listen lmao Favorite Songs: the 1, cardigan, exile, seven, peace RATING 7/10
Sep 9, 2025 at 1:34 AM Although I'm genuinely happy i got as much enjoyment out of my last listen to this album as i did, I still have the same feelings towards Taylor that I always had. I get people liking her somewhat but I don't get her putting up the numbers she does. This isn't as scathing as I mean it but I put her in the same boat as Drake (musically I'm not calling her a pedo). Where I think she has a decent amount of perfectly fine music but there's so many other artists that appeal to me more in the space they're occupying who have seemingly lived more interesting lives for me to hear about, like I could listen to XYZ artist for better writing, singing, production, melodies, etc. The ability to be universal is an extremely hard skill in its own right though so i gotta hand it to her for that, I just find the feverish defense and cultish following for someone, who seems to be all things considered, a very basic white woman to be extremely confusing to me. But I'm sure people feel the same for people I like listening to so whatever floats your boat lol.
