You don’t like Bad meets evil?! Ok that’s where I draw the line. This record was more than fine.

    :emoji_star:398. The Game - The Documentary (2005) [September 3rd, 2025]
I know that Game is a pretty big joke on this forum by this point, but we can all agree that The Documentary is a classic right. Game's debut is a bit of an outlier in a lot of ways. It's the only album in his discography that was released under Aftermath, the only one to feature G-Unit members prior to the beef, and it's arguably his strongest showing period.

"Westside Story" is a perfectly simple opener for the record, with a calm beat paired up with great verses from Game and a great hook from 50. "Dreams" is a Kanye produced classic, and an all timer in my opinion. "Hate It Or Love It" and "How We Do" are classic mid 2000's hits, and they still slam hard to this day. You've got some great energetic tracks like "Higher", "Church for Thugs", and a personal favorite of mine, the Timbaland produced "Put You On The Game". You also have some great smooth tracks like "Runnin'", and "Special", alongside some all timers like "The Documentary", "No More Fun And Games", and "We Ain't". The closer "Like Father Like A Son" is a very emotional closer as well. If I had any complaint, it would have to be the R&B tracks. they aren't bad ("Start From Scratch" is especially good) but they're mostly on the weaker side. I didn't really mind Game's tendency to name drop people, but apparently that gets worse over time, so maybe I just haven't gotten annoyed by it yet.

The Documentary isn't Get Rich Or Die Tryin', but it's still a d--- good time. I remember thinking Doctor's Advocate was pretty good, so that one might be coming next.

I was walking down the street one day and the Game bum rushed me and said he wrote every song on the album and 50 is a liar. Then he started rapping about Red rolls, white ceilings… it was so weird

Wonder if you will review other good albums people ignore like LAX, Jesus Piece or Doc 2/2.5 or some of his classic mixtapes :emoji_thinking:

    :emoji_star:400. Westside Gunn - HEELS HAVE EYES + HEELS HAVE EYES 2 (2025) [September 7th, 2025]

For album 400 we have....two albums? I decided that having a 10 minute EP be Album 400 would be pretty lame, so for the first time ever, two albums are sharing a spot. I've been on a big Gunn kick recently, so I figured that checking out his two 2025 projects would be a good idea.

HEELS HAVE EYES is pretty short, so it doesn't leave much of an impression. The AI intro is weird, but "DAVE BOY SMITH" and "EGYPT" are pretty cool. It's a short little EP, so it doesn't do much sadly.

HEELS HAVE EYES 2 is a completely different story. We start off pretty good with "HEEL CENA", but dear God, "POWER HOUSE HOBBS" is out of this world. I don't think if ever heard a Denny Laflare produced song before, but he killed this beat. Gunn and Benny sound as ill as ever (No Conway though :emoji_slight_frown:). "MANDELA" is cool, and "AUNT GINA" is another hard hitter. "PRICK" and "DEMNA LEFT BALENCI" are great as well. I do think that "LOVE YOU PT. 2" is a bit of a weird intro, but I still think that the album (or mixtape?) is stellar. 100 times better than it's predecessor, and another great album from this year.

Albums aside, I want to thank all the people that have been keeping up with this thread, particularly Minato, Marsh and BIGFOOT (Onyx review coming soon!!!!). When Is tarted logging back in February I never would've thought that it would get to this point (Honestly, I never thought that I listened to that many albums until I started keeping count), but this has been pretty sun. The log might slow down a bit over the next few months since I'm in university, and have a job now, but I hope to be able to contribute to this log just as much as I have before.

I've recently re listened to this. Fun project, definitely underrated. I'm with you that Lighters and Take From Me s---. This was peak Eminem yelling era, so it works best in small doses.

You were a little rough on D12 World, that album’s a lot of fun lol

    :emoji_star:401. Weezer - Weezer (1994) [September 9th, 2025]
I think I've brought up the "overplayed album" thing before, right? There are some albums that I've played so much, that I actively have to avoid them so that I don't get completely sick of them. Previous examples of this include The Eminem Show, Yeezus, and a couple of others that I'm probably blanking on. And Weezer is no exception. Seriously, I played this album to death my sophomore year of high school, and I know every song by heart more.

"My Name Is Jonas" is good, and I know it might be unpopular, but it might be my least favorite on the album. But still, if "My Name Is Jonas" is the weakest track, that speaks wonders about the rest of the record. The two-pack punch of "No One Else" and "The World Has Turned and Left Me Here" is delightfully funny and pathetic in a way that only Rivers Cuomo could accomplish. "Buddy Holly" is....well it's "Buddy Holly". The first time I heard this son, I literally replayed it 3 times before moving to the next song. It's That Good.

"Undone-The Sweater Song" is another classic, with one of my favorite basslines ever, and "Surf Wax America" is super fun. "Say It Ain't So" is a song about alcoholism, but it's still a d--- good time (WRASSLIN WITH JIMMYYYYY), and I'd say that "In The Garage" and "Holiday" are amongst the band's most underrated tracks ever. "Only In Dreams" is probably my favorite song the album though. It's a painfully relatable account of a guy being too much of a p---- to make a move, and it has one of the best buildups, probably ever. Incredible closer.

Weezer is always a lot of fun to revisit. I've mostly grown out of that strange Weezer phase I had in High School, but I still have lots of love for the band's work (not all of it though...looking at you Pacific Daydream :emoji_rage:) and their classic debut is no exception.
