Anybody else on here working out?

I didn’t step foot in a gym til I was 26 years old. Definitely one of my biggest regrets in life. Been in the gym off and on for the last 3 years but never took it seriously until this year. Until this year I’d never hit the gym consistently for longer than 4 months. I would always end up taking 3 month breaks and having to start from square one again.

I decided in January I was gonna stay consistent the whole year and I have been now for the last 7 months. Hit a new PB today of 100kg (225lbs) for 5 reps on bench.

Anyone familiar with weight lifting/body building probably knows that isn’t anything special in the grand scheme of things, but I’m happy with the progress in 7 months.

anybody else got any goals they wanna hit or PBs, or for any nice max bench/deadlift/squat numbers?

Feel free to use this thread @LifeSXN

Although I've been doing some form of cardio more on than off for over a decade (currently: walking, sprinting up steep hills, jump rope) I've never gotten into heavy resistance training. I can't be bothered with getting all the right equipment and I'm not a fan of gyms either since I prefer exercising alone or outside. But a few YT vids I've seen recently (esp from the channel Yellow Dude) have absolutely sold me on calisthenics. I haven't quite begun in earnest yet but to my surprise I can do 3-5 dips at a time even though I've never done them before in my life, so it'll be interesting to see how far I can go. I'm mainly in it for the long-term health benefits of resistance training, which I've only recently learned are much greater than I thought, so I don't care about getting too huge. Now to just get into a rhythm.

I’d just love to start working out but admittedly I never find the time and have a s-----y diet lol, I’m 30 now and I really do need to start taking better care of myself. Inspiring thread homie!

I keep meaning to go on a cut and lean down but just haven’t done it yet. I’m enjoying getting stronger. I don’t do as much cardio as I should. I’m weighing just under 200lbs with I reckon somewhere between 20-24% body fat.

If I dieted and dropped the fat I’d definitely see more muscle definition but I fear my strength gains would decrease. Maybe I’ll try towards next summer

I think it’s worth it just for the mental benefits alone. The muscle gains and physical look is just a bonus. Finishing a gym session is literally like a natural drug, you leave high almost every time.

It’s done absolute wonders for my mental health. Plus it’s never too late bro. 30 is young as s--- really. One step at a time. Just start training a little, get yourself into it and eventually you’ll start researching more and more stuff and you’ll fix your diet naturally.

I couldn’t recommend it enough. Plus if you’ve never really worked out before newbie gains are there for the taking.

I've heard that some people can deadlift crazy weights despite being on the leaner side (though I would think there'd be a limit). I suppose this is largely due to their genetics and not just on their fitness routine and other lifestyle habits. If you're naturally pretty strong leaning down may not cost you too much strength if you do it right.

Been on a cut for the past month, and it’s going pretty well thankfully. Hoping to reach my goal around Mid October-Early November, then maintaining before going on a B***. My all time deadlift pr is 315 (not much, I know) so I’m hoping to eventually reach the 350’s

    Great thread idea btw!

Those numbers aren’t bad at all. To be honest I hardly deadlift. Pulled by lower back a couple years ago at work and I’m just too fearful it might happen again. Was in constant pain for about 2 weeks whenever I moved or even sat in bed, not something I’d like to experience again.

Do y'all go to the gym and just sit there? Cause you look like a bunch of chumps who can't lift. Yikes.

I have been this year. Started in January. Lost 3 stone this year and get toned. Not shredded but pleasant enough.

That's all gone to s--- since I went on a 4 week vacation on August and haven't been able to get back in the groove since I've been back.
