UPDATE: He has passed away, Rest in Peace

    Ace Frehley
, the original lead guitarist for KISS, is hospitalized on life support, and the prognosis is not good ... TMZ has learned.

Sources familiar with Ace's situation tell us ... he suffered a brain bleed when he took a fall in his studio a couple weeks ago -- forcing him to cancel his upcoming tour dates -- but his health has not improved.

We're told he's been on a ventilator for some time, and hasn't gotten better -- so, his family is considering turning off support ... perhaps as soon as Thursday evening.

d--- bro this one hurts…KISS and Ace played big roles in me growing up loving music and they were the reason I wanted to play/make music when I was younger. Hoping he’ll pull through but unfortunately it isn’t looking good. Hoping the best for the OG Spaceman

Such a shame...what an immense influence he had on thousands of players. Rest in peace...he's my favourite original member for a reason

Thanks for sharing that, man. That’s really heartbreaking news — Ace was such a legend. His influence on rock and guitar playing will never be forgotten.
