Waiting For The Jets To Land

Although im familiar with a lot of bands names and some select songs from them this i hadn't heard most of these songs so it was a really fresh listening experience!

The Sufjan track was a good ambient opener into The Crystal Lake which was an immediate favorite on first listen, idr if i know Granddaddy but this was a great impression.

I Felt My Size is a great song, ive been meaning to listen to The Glow Pt 2 for ages now and this solidfies that.

Piano Fire is the 2nd addition of PJ Harvey to this round of tapes and quite the welcome one, never heard of Sparklehorse but between that and Little Girl and the previous track ill need to change that. Julian was a great feature choice and i already love the sound of the song apart from his perfect inclusion.

Going staight into Drunk Girls is a funny bit of sequencing, LCD Soundsystem is a blind spot for me that I've been meaning to rectify but i love the dance punk groove of this track, very fun inclusion.

Never heard of Montreal but this song f---s, theres a very 80s dance vibe to it that i really like and its super entertaining lyrically.

Modest Mouse is such a funny band cause the song that most people know is Float On and i like to imagine what its like for people to hear songs like this from them for the first time lol. In terms of instant replayability this one is lower on the rung for me in this playlist but Tiny Cities Made Of Ashes is still very groovy in a weird way and I can see it getting stuck in my head a lot in the future. I like it more the more i listen to it, a grower for sure.

Limousine is a very inspired Brand New choice and the start to the best run on the tape (this song all the way to the end), id figure someone would choose one of their immediately higher octane tracks but not only does this sequence perfectly its also just a great song. Very well paced for a 7min song and the build up and crescendo is so good. One of my favorites for sure.

Lonely Day is one of if not the only song I know on this tape, although one of their bigger songs i feel like its easy to forget its by SOAD. Big fan of melancholic rock s--- and this song is the perfect encapsulation of it.

Now i think i must've heard I Am The Highway before from how much I've heard Chris Cornells work in passing, although i usually go to Soundgarden, Audioslave, and Temple Of the Dog's biggest big hits when im in the mood for his music this is immediately going in that rotation for me (checking i see that this actually is one of their biggest songs so ive definitely heard it before but im too Cochise brained to remember rn lmao). I need go actually sit down and give a proper listen to Chris' work, he had such a perfect voice and i always loved his lyrics RIP to a goat.

Back to things I'm completely unfamilar with I've Been Riding With The Ghost is f---ing incredible, i don't have much else to say. Its completely my s--- and i need to listen to more expeditiously.

Sky Blue Sky was an immediate favorite for me, as i said in one of my last posts i been kinda goin through a bit and the lyrics on this one really hit me and i really hate to reuse the word but the melancholy is something i really needed rn lol. I gotta check out more Wilco.

The Troubles Will Be Gone is already easily one of my favorites. Around this time of year i always get into a folky mood and this guys voice is great, i also like that the vocal recording isnt super pristine, it adds to the texture of the song in a way ireally appreciate. Lyrics are really sweet too, will be listening to this one a lot.

AJJ while another blindspot that i want to fix is a sound that at least am somewhat in tune with rn cause i recently listened to In The Aeroplane Over The Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel for the first time and this song lyrically and delivery wise reminds me a lot of that record which I love. Rejoice is another great song im happy to have found through here.

Bright Eyes is in the same boat as AJJ in terms of the sound and my familiarity with them in name but nothing else but Road To Joy is a great closer to of my favorite runs in all the mixtapes we've ever posted so far!

Incredible tape @Jimmy Jazz theres so much here that i love and its all really well thought out in terms of placement. One of my favorite mixtapes and it hit at a time i genuinely really needed it as silly as it is to say lol.

Favorite Songs: The Crystal Lake, Piano Fire, Little Girl, Gallery Piece, Limousine, Lonely Day, I Am The Highway, I've Been Riding With The Ghost, Sky Blue Sky, Troubles Will Be Gone, Rejoice, Road To Joy

I was gonna originally rate it a 9.5/10 but it feels closer to one whole number than the other and i dont like doing decimals past .5 so f--- it

d--- this tape is getting far better reactions than I expected. I’m so glad you liked it so much man. Sucks that you’ve been going through it brother, s---’s gonna get better and until it does I’ll be happy that I was able to provide you with some music that’s helpful in any way at all.

I really appreciate the extensive review! If you’re feeling like checking more of these artists out then I’d definitely recommend Magnolia Electric Co. The whole album is crazy and has a lot of gold alongside Riding With The Ghost, the track I used. The intro song, Farewell Transmission is one of my faves of all time. I think you’d f--- with that one as well. Also that whole The Tallest Man On Earth album. ‘The Wild Hunt’ is a modern folk classic, imo. Just putting it out there, in case you ever feel like expanding.

Once more, thank you so much!
