I just take his credits usually being him humming it or dictating how it overall sounds, which I heard a lot about him doing that throughout the beats being made. Dre seemingly does that too, but he also mixes, samples, and I think he does some drums and mastering, but that is the definition of a producer (just not a beat maker). He definitely is involved for that with everything Resto related, but I don’t know how much he did that with Steve King, Jeff Bass, or DJ Head outside of at least a decent amount (could be all of it and they just performed the instruments and keyboards, but who knows?).

Eminem was credited as a producer on guilty conscience, and he wasn’t doing anything meaningful production wise (it took until 2001 for the Bass Bros to actually let him touch a drum pad), so maybe the mixing credits is from him directing the overall sound much more(?).

It must be a preset then. It could be possible that Superman is a mix of live guitars and keyboard presets too. It's funny how so many tracks from back then are a mix of computer generated sounds and sounds which sound just like real instruments.

I'm a big fan of Don't Push Me. I received the instrumentals for 50's albums Get Rich and The Massacre but they wouldn't give me any Eminem featured songs so they left off Patiently Waiting and Many Men which he surprisingly has a production credit for but Many Men instrumental was on the vinyl single and Patiently Waiting leaked but everything else was included and the Don't Push Me instrumental is labelled (no fx) so has no gunshots but has everything else. Interestingly at the start it plays the hi hats twice before the track starts so I have a clean sample one shot of that lol. I notice that happens at the end of the Marshall Mathers and a--- Like That instrumental where you hear the snare/rim shot play twice isolated. Maybe that's just a thing they do on Pro Tools to just end the track.

Huge fan of In Supposed To Die Tonight and My Toy Soldier. I'm going off memory because I haven't listened in so long but I'm sure all the Eminem produced beats on The Massacre are extended in sure Gatman and Robin is longer too....and that's a Jeff Bass production but to me sounds pure Eminem.

Another thing that was from a keyboard are the little drum fills at the end of each verse on Sing For The Moment. Jeff said they were just from a drum kit on his keyboard and he played them with his fingers.

Another little fact about SFTM is that Eminem wrote it to no beat. He just wrote it with the Dream On sample in his head.

Em and Resto are credited to Many Men because Resto did the intro and I think they added something in the outro? Haven’t heard it in a while.

I can believe that. I forget the song from Get Rich but I believe Eminem is listed as a producer because he added the sound of a lighter being flicked at the start. That's it and he's a co producer

I didn't know that about SFTM but its knowing things like that which make me want to go and make beats because to listen to it you would think it's a real drum kit and it's in a big multi million dollar studio and really it's just talent. It's mixing and EQing and it's layering sounds. Even modern day music. How many songs are on the radio with guitars and orchestras and brass instruments and you think it must be a fortune hiring people.....and it's maybe someone in a small room just playing it all on a keyboard but when you add all that talent you'd think these are all real instruments being played. You'd never know it's all in the box. It's all digital.

I would have to say his best beat is Soldier, with the Kiss intro at the beginning.

Also if you notice, the kiss intro part comes in again in the last verse, but quieter in the mix. I wonder which came first. The end part, and they decided to use it for an intro, or whether the intro was first and they decided to use it again to enhance the third verse.
