I agree, I would also be open to seeing him used at wing similar to how Colorado did with MacKinnon. That top 6 you posted looks great though.

Given this turn of events, Edmonton has Pittsburgh's 2015 1st, two 2015 seconds, and their own 2016 1st as trade assets. Their value is only higher for cap teams like Chicago - maybe we can package something up and pry Seabrook to help this D out.

I'm 110% down to trade our first round pick for next year too, it would net a return and force us to try and compete for the playoffs. I'm so sick of losing.

Edmonton is like the anti-Pittsburgh. They always load up with talent at the draft while Pittsburgh unloads all their draft picks for NHL-ready players. If Edmonton is serious about contending next year, they unload some of that young talent/draft picks for NHL proven players and some grit. The team is going to be so talented but it's soft. I wonder what it would take for them to get Lucic/Seidenberg out of Boston. Adding Lucic to their top 6 would make it a contender for one of the best in the league and Seidenberg would be that big minutes shutdown defensmen they haven't had in a long time.

Hope so, I'd be down to trade pretty much anyone on the roster aside from McDavid for that package.

I would pay out the a--- for a Hamilton and Lucic package, even though they'll never trade Hamilton away lol.

If Edmonton can pull off something like this and add in some defense and nastiness, I'll be thankful they are in the West and I wouldn't have to worry about them until the Cup Finals.

Montreal Ottawa off to another good start, must win for Ottawa. They're up 1-0 for now.

Vancouver/Calgary later on should be great too.

You trade Shultz before you trade Fayne. Fayne is the only D pickup that has actually lived up to his billing. Shultz is lauded for his offensive capabilities yet he can't make a break out pass to save his life and he doesn't know what a slap shot is considering all he does is wrist shots from the point on the pp. He isn't needed and hopefully mgmt pulls their heads out of their a----s to realize that. They should go grab Sekera or Martin, and a righty like Michalek on a short term deal that or if LA wants to get rid of Voynov trade a couple 2nds for him if he gets the charges dropped. Drai, Hall, Pitts 1st, both their seconds and their 16 first should be enough to grab a legit number 1 D man from somewhere. I'd love to grab Shattenkirk for Drai plus a 2nd or even Pitts first.

I haven't followed the Oilers close enough to know which defensmen have actually been the problem there, I just know defense is their biggest problem.

Giving up on a talented 23 year old puck moving defensmen isn't their best move IMO. With what you described of Schultz, he sounds a lot like Kris Letang when he was the same age except the fact Letang had played in 100 more games at than Schultz at 23 and Letang was on a lot better teams that could cover up his flaws. If you put Schultz with the right coaching he has the potential to be an elite defensman.

Shultz is a lot more like MA Bergeron than he is to Letang. Letang isn't a puck moving d-man thats the reason he should go.

Weird seeing Brian Flynn playing a decent sized roll in this series for the Habs. I grew up with him and my brother is pretty good friends with him. Kid was probably the biggest Bruins fan i knew. Obviously that s--- goes out the window when you get into the league, still weird though.

What do you consider Letang if he isn't a puck moving d-man?

    Sharks fired their coach today...
I guess the team Canada coach isn't good enough for them...
    :50:

Any team who needs a coach right now. This is probably the guy you want.
    RIP Sharks

When the Wild play this smart defensive style, it really can lock up the other team's offense although the Blues got going near the end there.

3rd period gonna be a battle, probably need another goal to feel good.
