Does anyone else feel like you need to concentrate a lot on this game when you play? I find myself not wanting to play because the amount of concentration I have to have to follow the THICK plot line (because it is interesting I don't want to miss anything). Maybe it's just me but are you guys doing anything special to draw you back into the game?

I've felt that about a lot of recent games. This isn't as much of a problem with this game but the games that give you a 5 page long todo list can go f--- itself. This game atleast gives interesting plot lines to even the menial side quests you take on so it doesn't seem like busy work and it also doesn't bombard you all at once with things to do. You kind of pick them up at your own pace.

Or are you talking about the world?

both, game could have benefitted from a slightly smaller world and thus more polish in the remaining areas...bigger isn't always better

I know what you're getting at, like they throw you into the universe without much help during the cut scenes always name dropping cities you don't know and people you haven't met, but I just try to get the gist of what's happening and then they usually give you the details more digestably during the mission or in the quest log

Precisely. And the thing with this game is all characters have hidden motives and agendas and it's like you should know the backgrounds of these people and why they are doing what they are doing. Especially the main characters because there is a lot to the story that isn't in this game that drives them to do what they do.

I just feel late to the party and everyone is already drunk and there's about 4 beers left :/

I think as an RPG this stands on it's own - you have a pre determined character with a pre determined personality who is part of a pre determined faction. Feel like as an RPG it would have been better if you started from a clean slate like in Skyrim. Tbh I do find Skyrim superior, probably because I haven't played Witcher 1 or 2 so I can't really appreciate the world building or the characters as much as I would like (which is one of the main things the game prides itself on).

Just imagine if this game took the Skyrim approach of a clean slate...imagine joining in the war on a side of your choosing, or actually having the option to become a Witcher or not. The game is a solid 9/10 don't get me wrong, but I feel the story and protagonist limit the RPG elements

it's hardly the same as experiencing these events with these characters yourself in the previous games.

Ugh I'm already taking summer classes.

Very true. I did appreciate that in Skyrim (that was my first Elder's Scrolls game and I loved it). I guess I meant more of the world, world building, story lines etc. Which I honestly think Witcher does a better job at. But for some reason I can't get into it like I did with Skyrim. It could be because I was younger then and I'm just kind of growing out of this even though I don't want to because I want to enjoy this game or games like it. But I guess I don't even find myself playing any games let alone this one too often.

After I got out of the beginning area I floored at how big the world was and how much there is to do in it. The scope of this game is impressive. I've had a great deal of fun with every single quest I've taken on and every question mark I've explored.

I'd be inclined to agree with you about bigger isn't always better if I wasn't having so much FUN doing all this s---. Take assassins creed unity for example, that map is pretty big and has a million things to do but most of the time I felt like I was doing quests just to unclutter the map. I'd spend all this time traveling just to get to a quest to run back in the direction I came just to get something or k--- someone with no real reason for it. I feel like the witcher does a great job at giving quests purpose and motive for you to finish them.

As far as polish goes, handling of Geralt and roach could have been greatly improved but I suppose they could do that with a patch if they feel it's that much of an issue. This game is beautiful though and extremely detailed.
