Obviously a first day pick up but should I get rid of my DVDs? I'm torn because I feel like it's supposed to be watched in grainy DVD quality.

What are you guys going to do?

@reservoirGod @Koolo I know you guys will be picking this up what are you going to do?

for me, blu-ray isn't THAT much better than DVD

    is it better quality? sure

but it ain't like i'm gonna re-buy the same movies/shows just to have them on blu-ray

I'll put it on my wish list and see if someone buys it for me... If not... I still have the DVD box set and I can rally an onDenmand HD marathon when it pops up.

I already have it on DVD. If they wanna do like a trade in, I'd be down, otherwise I'll just live with DVD quality.

Is it the remastered HD version? Then cop it, because that's a different experience.
Otherwise pick it up if you consider yourself that big of a fan and want it for the box or whatever.

Pick up the bluray but I'd personally keep the DVDs too.

You're not going to get much money for selling them and at least for me they're worth the little money you'd get to keep them just for nostalgia reasons. I've watched my DVDs so many times I like still having them.

Honestly, from watching Season 1&2 in the HD remaster, I'd say it's worth having both. I'm not the kinda guy that would pay for music/movies ever, but I'm actually considering buying both DVD and HD copies of the wire. The HD remaster is a bit of a different watch, but I'm enjoying it enough to re-watch the entire series for (about) the 4th time There's even a couple of scenes I noticed where you can see little details that aren't in the original.
(can't remember the specific scenes, but there's one with Bunk and he's talking about some evidence he found. In the original you can't see s---, in the HD one he's holding up like vials)

I have Seasons 4 and 5 on DVD and they looked stretched out cause of the aspect ratio. I would have considered buying the Blu-Ray set if I didn't have HBO Go.

Well fix your aspect ratio on your DVD player then, so you can watch it in perfect aspect ratio.

Doesn't matter, the HD version of the show is on Go. I stopped buying the DVDs once they came out with the HD version.

Buy the blu ray version but keep the original dvd's. I just rewatched the series with the HD remasters and it felt like a different experience, the original dvd's are still better IMO for this show.

Oops. Picked up the Blu Rays today at Best Buy for 100. Sold my DVD's for 25 to a family member. Oh well, f--- it. The Blu Rays have motivated me for a rewatch and it's been 4 years since my last rewatch so no big deal.
