    Windows 10 is coming out in July. Wanna get it free? Of course you do. The good folks at Microsoft are giving you a chance. Windows 10 is a free upgrade, for a limited time, for qualified Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 devices. All you have to do is reserve your place and wait for a notification to upgrade when July comes.     The computer I'm using is Windows 8 if that means anything.
    Might come with an update or it's just being rolled out gradually.

    Not every device will see the notifications at the same time so there might just be a delay as we roll it out to all capable devices. Here are some other potential reasons that you would not see the upgrade notification if:

    • Your device isn't running Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 8.1 Update.
    • Need to check what version of Windows you are running? See herefor instructions.
    • You are running an Enterprise version of Windows.
    • Windows automatic updates are not enabled on your device.
    • Your device may not meet the minimum system requirements.
    • Your device is not connected to the Internet.
    • Your device is eligible however, we are still working on updates that may improve your device’s experience, like getting a new driver.
    • If your device is eligible, you can still reserve your upgrade to Windows 10 even if you don’t see the notifications. Just open the Get Windows 10 App to get started.

    yea, I have the Windows 10 Insider Preview, maybe I just didn't get the notice yet. Unless, by having this.. I automatically have a reserved spot?..

    Can't wait for this! It seems like it's gonna be great. I was one of the few who installed Windows 8 on it's first day for only $40 and i thought it was ok. Windows 8/8.1 is better on a tablet than it is on a laptop or desktop. But Windows 10 looks like it's gonna kick a---

    Will all my files stay on my laptop if I get Win10? Or will I have to transfer everything onto a hard drive and then re-transfer it back onto my laptop?

    I wouldn't risk it, especially since you are upgrading your OS. Just back up your files, and if they happen to get lost in the update, then you can always re-transfer.

    I reserved my copy, but they better let me just get an .iso of it or else I'm going to delete it and just pirate it later on.

    EDIT: Guess I'm just going to wind up buying/pirating it later on. There's no way they are going to give an .iso for Windows 10. I'm not going to risk it installing itself and me losing my files. Y'all have fun with Windows 10.

    No. You have 1 year to use your free Windows 10 copy, but once you use it you have it forever. You aren't just forced to pay for it after the year. Come on now man :comeon:

    Definitely need to check this out. If it fails to impress like W8 I'm just going to end up getting a chrome cast for school and stick with my windows 7 laptop
