Yup and the feeling was awful. Soon as he hit that game winner I thought the series was over.

Well that probably was the moment that turned the momentum for good, it was basically over after that tbh.

People act like LeBron choking is the worst thing ever... Cuban even called out Skip Bayless for calling LeBron a choker because no one was giving the Mavs defensive schemes any credit at all. Sure, he definitely should've played better, but Jordan has his fair share of chokes too. Missing shots and turning the ball over a few times in the close out game to the Magic in 95 comes to mind.

Edit: shoulda pointed out these happened at the end of the game

The difference though is Bron used to be consistently worse in clutch situations while guys like Jordan just had a few bad moments but usually stepped it up in big games/big situations. The mind set was the real difference imo, Kobe and Jordan always wanted to make the play and thought they could make it. Bron doubted himself. He's definitely improved big time in that department though.

finals averages though b, lbj playoff stats outside the finals are like 29 ppg, 9 rpg, 8 apg. In those 3 finals shaq averaged 36 and 17, kobe like 24 ppg.

No one ever likes to bring up Kobe's pretty bad 2008 finals against Boston, or his pretty bad performance against Detroit in 2004...

True, although if you look at all the stats in those series, everyone's numbers were down since they were both incredible defensive teams. No question though if he had done better, they would have had a better chance (especially against Boston, Pistons just f---in owned them tbh and they had little to no chance looking back on it now...)

Since it's been brought up, here are the full averages for the playoffs during the 3peat. Although I think the 'Shaq carried Kobe so his rings are devalued' argument is about as played out as it gets lol.

Shaq dominated more than Kobe, true, but there was no carrying like idiots like to assume.

Shaq and Kobe is the greatest duo of all time, they were amazing to watch.

Although if you look at the 3rd best player on the team (which could be Fox, Horry or Fisher), it's way worse than the 3rd best player on those Bulls teams who was Dennis Rodman. Those Bulls teams also had great shooters. Bron's championship teams had Bosh, Wade, one of the best shooters ever in Ray Allen and a great defender in Battier. So I guess what I'm saying is I don't get the 'Kobe won with Shaq' argument since all championship teams need to have great pieces around them. It's NEVER just one guy although if Bron wins it all this year, it'll be closer to 'just 1 guy' than I can ever remember and he'd certainly deserve a lot of credit.

Yeah I hate that it's always brought up to try to devalue Kobe's legacy. Kobe was pretty much running PG during those years, while also scoring almost whenever he wanted. They deserve equal credit for those rings.

Only reason peopple bring up the shaq numbers in those 3 finals is because people love to s--- on lebrons finals performances. Obvs kobe had a role to play but he was the sidekick :idk: LBJ has never been the sidekick and the only time he really messed up in a finals series was vs dallas.
http://www.landofbasketball.com/player_comparison/b/kobe_bryant_vs_lebron_james.htm if you look at these stats, he beats kobe in like every statistical category in the playoffs :jordan:

He was only considered a sidekick IMO because he developed into a star after Shaq was already on the team. In their primes, they were both dominant. On Lebron & Kobe, I think that you have to take into consideration how tough the west was back then, and how much a cakewalk the east has mostly been during Lebron's playoff career.

i agree. This is also the reason you see lebron dominate all the way to the finals and then meet a team like the spurs and get dominated. Lebrons most complete team ever was that 2013 squad that beat the spurs. If LBJ can win this year though, that puts him up another notch forsure.

Agreed. He owes Ray Allen for life for hitting that shot in game 6. Hands down 1 of the best/toughest shots in NBA history.

word but thats the reason they got allen. LBJ still had an unbelievable game 7 and clutch shot to win the title that people overlook cause of ray allens shot in game 6. But i agree lmao that lbj should be thanking bosh for that rebound and allen for that 3 for life.

Spurs were done after that. Ginobli looked like he just left a funeral in his post game press conference after game 6.
