I love how we talk about "him" like we have already know that this gay president is going to be completely flaming. As if Caitlyn Jenner is the candidate. Also, people weren't very worried about foreign policy when voting for Bush twice and Obama twice.

Pretty much the only thing I agree with itt is there will be a gay president before an atheist president. One Nation, under GOD.

it's not about if he's flaming or not or how we in the west view him. There's more to the world than just america and the UK. There would definitely be drawbacks from having an openly gay president atm. The political elite in the U.S wouldn't even let it happen because the y know. It 's not the time yet

We only recently elected the first openly gay US Senator. There's only been a handful of gay Governors and Congress(wo)men, and less who were out when elected. It's not a 1:1, but keep in mind the first black elected officials were in the 19th century...

Hey fa---- just because a few judges decided to legalise same sex marriage doesn't mean it has the backing of most americans. An openly gay guy would have trouble even getting elected as president by his own f---ing people. It's just not there yet

i'd say now that the marriage issue is essentially out of the way it is more likely we'll see an openly gay President. I think we will definitely see one before we see an open atheist or a Muslim President. We're going to see a woman as President in 2017.

A lot of it depends on who comes up through the political ranks and has a credible shot at running. My guess is that we will see a gay man before a lesbian
