      Rope 1948
      ★★★★★ Rewatched 29 Jun, 2015

Perhaps Hitchcock's finest moment, a surreal blending of theater and cinema. Sound and image become one. Articulate dialogue keeps the viewer utterly entertained. With scenes such as Brandon playing with the rope once used to k---, a metronomic rhythm increasing to correspond with Phillip's anxiety, and invisible spaces coming to life by voice-over storytelling, this is truly exemplar of a master at work.

      99/100 - Masterful.

Sokurov’s Russian Ark (2002) is not merely an exercise in technique; with the single take that comprises it, Russian Ark, perhaps more than any other film, illustrates film’s capacity to convey the presence of time and space within reality through image. It is Bazin’s dream come alive: the film is a molding of space, an imprint of duration, an expression of regeneration without relying on origination (something like… more

Have you seen From Beyond? Pretty great 80's cheesefest gore. My dad told me to watch it after he recalled going to the movies with a friend and a bottle of liquor and almost throwing up while watching it.

Terminator 1 & 2 - Hadn't seen them in years and wanted a refresher before I seen the new one. Both are still great watches.

Entourage - Really did just feel like an extended episode, but thats what I was expecting and hoping for. Really enjoyed it.

Classic. Film is a crazy fuckpile of brillaint visuals, sexy stunts and intense emotion. A heart smashing ride that'll just cripple any lightweight soul that enters the big screen. Not one to be missed people.

John Wick. I wasn't expecting much, but I was blown away. Your standard action/revenge movie really, but the subtle underworld they had, with the hotel, and the gold coins, and "dinner reservations", was f---ing cool. William Dafoe was excellent in there, even as a minor character, as always.
The fights were f---ing insane, they didn't look cheap like in a lot of movies, it really helps Keanu knows his s--- when it comes to MA.
The thing that impressed me the most though, was the music, the way they used it to just totally drive the action.
For example when Iosif is running through the club, in a towel, stumbling and looking behind him in fear, the club music is very disorienting. Then you see John coming down the hallway, and the dubstep is starting to build up, and then as soon as he steps around the corner, the music just kicks in full throttle as John starts taking on 20 guys.
d---, I could talk about this one for ages.

I have been watching polish classic movies lately.

If you are interested in movies about history, I'd recommend watching a Man Of Marble and Man Of Iron. Both were directed by Andrzej Wajda.

If you haven't seen it, I recommend you watch Ashes and Diamonds next, Scorsese's fave picture and easily my favourite from Wajda: http://nextprojection.com/2014/02/0...inema-review-ashes-diamonds-1958-np-approved/

Great reviews. I watched Ashes and Diamonds a couple days ago but I didn't know that Scorsese showed DiCaprio this movie while he was directing The Departed. Very interesting tidbit.

I also heard that Robert De Niro paid homage to Zbigniew Cybulski in the last scene of Taxi Driver by wearing dark sunglasses (which were Cybulski's trademark). I don't know if it's true or not. It sounds a little bit far-fetched tho.

Man of Marble is a prequel to Man of Iron, so you should watch it as well. It's also a great movie.
