So I was recently thinking of getting a PSP 3000.
I'd probably hack it and then put a couple Emulators on it (as well as play ISOs on it as I'm a cheap f---)
Would it be worth it, for about $100?

OR

Would it be better to do it for the Vita? (I'd be doing the same thing)

Not sure about the hacking capabilities but the Vita is a great little machine by itself.

The Vita would be better imo, especially if you aren't going to buy games. It already comes with 16gb of storage too.

The Vita is a lot more comfortable to use than the PSP in terms of design and controls, and has a bigger storage capacity. But if money is an issue, the PSP is pretty good for emulation anyway.

You can probs find a psp for cheaper than $100. Try the PSP GO. Vita isn't a bad choice either however the dedicated library isn't great. Check out turning a Raspberry Pi into a handheld console as well. Much cheaper and it's not that hard.

Basically a Raspberry Pi portable console all put together. Can play all retro games up to N64/ps1 I believe. Maybe even further but I haven't really researched it.

The lowest I could find (In Australia lol) was 87 plus delivery on ebay. The Go looks nice but apparently it's not as good for hacking

Gotcha. It really depends on what your looking for I guess. Vita will probably be able to emulate better. Plus you get Vita + PSP library. But Vita is definitely more expensive. Personally I will probs pick up the ENCADE because I think it looks dope.

Can you emulate on the Vita yet?

PSP great for homebrew stuff but very, very limited in its powers. Prob better off getting a cheap nDS for emulation.

I'd go with Vita on a heartbeat though on its general principles, I love mine.

Only the PSP mode. So only for emulation of PSP games if I understand correctly, which is sorta not what I want

The ability to play PSP games and run emulators.
Any extras would be bonus (There are some pretty awesome Vita games that I wouldn't mind)

So yeah, I'd go with my original suggestion. Buy a Vita or get an nDS for emulation.

PSP has a great library of games, you would not regret it. I spend so many hours on it. Too bad its been discontinued now, the socom multiplayer was amazing.
