Apr 12, 2015 Well said for sure. It is weird cause, at least where I live, the hype for the album was through the roof. All of my peers who are even mildy interested in rap were going nuts when it released.. I really thought he'd be platinum by week two, week three at the latest.
Apr 12, 2015 If the critical acclaim keeps up, he might get a decent Grammy bump, but a million is looking tough right now.
Apr 12, 2015 I doubt it'll hit platinum status, at least for a long while. The album just didn't have much of the mainstream appeal that's needed to push a project.
Apr 12, 2015 Lmao. Its not cause he's not promoting its cause people are woat and don't recognize goatness. Cole ain't do any promotion and about to go platinum.(not counting the steaming bs) it sucks but it ain't the promotion it's the appeal to people the album has. A good friend of mine still hasn't bought it cause he didn't like it and we been jamming kdot forever now.
Apr 13, 2015 The album sold more in it's first week than good kid. It's not doing that bad considering he hasn't got any commercial joints or bangers. People are fkn stupid thats why the album has gone platinum yet. People are too concerned about the wrong s--- in life and when someone tries to go against the grain and do something different people hate on it because they don't understand it. If you are a true kendrick fan you will love this album. He is constantly giving us something different and dope. It's unique with foundation. We also need to consider that in the commercial market Kendrick is still relatively new. You can't compare him with J cole , Drake and Em those guys have been in the market on the big scale considerably longer.
Apr 13, 2015 Tell me about it. 24-27k sales predicted for this week. What will be the prediction for next week? And please. It's not even about how the album sounds. You're pretty much looking into something no one here said @fevapres. Obviously, this album is a big turnover from Good Kid. Totally different styles. I love both albums though and I bought those two albums so there is no reason to make assumptions here. This is still a chart thread and things can't be always positive. So obviously, I will discuss about it in this thread. Kendrick is still "new". So is J. Cole, I don't get the comparison. Cole is at his third album. Kendrick at his second. I don't see the huge difference here. It's all about his label and his management, it's not like he manages his career alone. @Criza Cole's album is totally different sonically. And Cole released his album in the fourth quarter... So it means bigger sales. Obviously, it's not the norm. But it definitely helped him. And that doesn't justify the huge drops Kendrick is receiving currently. Just because one artist is doing well, doesn't explain why the other artist isn't doing well. Just saying. Promotion would never hurt. But again, this is a thing among hip hop artists what I still don't get. Although yeah. Kendrick's album is definitely not made for masses imo. So it might be the reason what causes the low interest. First week sales were good. Sadly, I was hoping for more. And currently, this isn't experiencing stable sales.
Apr 13, 2015 Im not sure what part of your post is aimed at who but im a just speak for it. It is about how the album sounds. The album doesn't appeal to the average listener thats why his sales aren't going to increase. not really comparing cole and kdot cause kdot is the goat but fhd appeals more hence why an average listener probably bought his album. Thats My point. And wait so Cole sold more cause of the time period he dropped the album?? What makes that quarter better than right now? I'm dead serious idk anything about that unless your just assuming if you have some legit info on that I'd like to see I'm curious about that never realized that made a difference. And there's been other artists that promote their s--- and ppl just don't buy. Ppl are woat and just don't buy. Big krit is the perfect example his sales don't back up how big his fan base is.
Apr 14, 2015 It was Christmas... Thats what I'm talking about. Sales are bigger in that time period. The quarter right now is usually pretty dire...
Apr 14, 2015 The album is great and that's all that matters. GKMC sold more because it was better, but also because it had radio rap songs on it too. Album sales mean nothing. Graduation outsold Curtis, but Curtis was clearly the better album.
Apr 14, 2015 I hope Kendrick's next album is completely done of Dre production. Can you imagine how many copies it would sell after two singles that were on the same level as In Da Club
Apr 14, 2015 It's going to take him an extra week to get gold compared to GKMC even though it had almost 100k more first week. Not looking good, album has no staying power because it didn't have any great singles
Apr 14, 2015 Not at all, still phenomenal considering him, Cole, Drake, Nicki, Kanye, Wayne, and Eminem are the only rappers who can move over 250k first week anymore
Jul 27, 2015 I finally updated this thread with all chart information around the globe. Jul 28, 2015 @truthless I appreciate the effort Can you please fix the colors a little bit? It's not really visible in the dark theme. That'd be great
Jul 28, 2015 Haha glad to hear . I fixed that. Thanks for the catch (Switched to the black/dark theme too now lol).
