Apr 13, 2017 President Trump spent his whole campaign claiming that our leaders were "stupid" and "weak" and didn't know how to "negotiate". He claimed that China took advantage of us by manipulating their currency... He said it 100s of times on the campaign trail... He even went as fair as to say China was "raping" us (locker room talk) through this process and he would end it. His very stupid supporters ate up this rhetoric and felt that Chinese people have had it too good for too long. He said over and over again on "day one" (the same day he would repeal and replace Obamacare and appoint the "Lock her up" Special Prosecutor) he would direct the US Treasury to officially designate China as "Currency Manipulator." He also criticized Obama for having a steak dinner with the President of China and said he would buy President Xi McDonald's hamburgers and negotiate with him. Well... Instead of buying President Xi a McDonald's hamburger... He took him on an all expenses paid for by the US taxpayer vacation to Mar-a-Lago to have the best chocolate cake in the world. Where President Xi convinced President Trump that China wasn't a Currency Manipulator.

He attacked Syria and now has to actually interact with NATO and I'm sure he's seeing the benefits. His opinion has "changed" because NATO defense spending has been on the rise to combat terrorism so I guess that means he doesn't see them as useless anymore

Apr 13, 2017 This is a big deal though. A president's foreign policy completely changing at the snap of a finger is dangerous. It tells you that he never truly understood what he was getting into and is molding his foreign policy to whatever the situation calls for without really thinking it through. NATO defense spending has been on the rise since 2014 when all countries came to agreement that those not at the 2% threshold should get there by 2024. Not to mention Russia's involvement in Ukraine has made the Baltic states sky rocket their defense spending.
