90% of the beats i make nowadays use vanilla samples from og TR-808 n 909

gnna eventually make my own drums when i can work drum synthesizers well enough but until then a combo of those in different pitches got me covered

I just have a huge folder of percussion sounds I've collected and tweaked over the yrs from diff places but I always change them around still to experiment esp snares they gotta break yr neck

i got beef w beatmakers who make the snares uncomfortably loud when u tryna amp up ur headphones to feel the bass

30 minutes is already cutting corners tho

if you're someone who uses presets and has a specific setup/style they always use, you're golden. even better off if you primarily sample and already have one in mind

don't fit into that group of producers? 10 minutes is gonna screw you

i dont have a specific style i might even change up the daw for no reason

but im still gnna save my kits as presets after im finished in case i want to pick some of it up for a project again

not necessarily just the velo, some of these eqs that ppl put on their snares is straight up like getting stabbed in the ear

especially if it overlaps w a fast att hi hat >-<

what if i switch up style and use different stuff and what ur saying is more accurate like this:

getting 5-20 beats composed out of a sound direction, and then picking which ones to mix > spending hours on one beat that no1 might even pick up at all

i mean if all you're trying to do is make 2 min. soundcloud beats

then sure

if you're actually trying to make full on songs and really experiment w/ different genres

then h--- no, that's extremely limiting

how lol that makes no sense at all, experimentation doesnt take extra time

im not gnna bother sequencing and mixing a track before any1 decides to record anything on it, thats a waste of time

i mean if u dont understand the genres ur working with then i can see why u would need extra time but for example if i decide to try out a pentatonic fiddle with a DnB breakbeat consisting of skull snaps drums thats not gnna require extra time. i already hear what im gnna make in my head and know exactly what to play
