Mar 21, 2020 I don't like "console style" dumbed-down third person action games. Also I don't like generic open world games. I prefer RPGs.
Mar 21, 2020 That's what I'm saying it's probably just a preference for you and you don't have a preference for playstation exclusives.
Mar 21, 2020 But in a grand scheme of things PS had better exclusives this gen, but imho they are nothing special as far as games go.
Mar 21, 2020 What type of games do you like? I enjoyed TLOU, God of War, and Nioh simply because I was so burnt out on FPS and open world games. For me personally, those games were a welcomed nice change of pace, although they were overrated in my opinion. I’m really hoping that new Cyberpunk 2077 game changes my boredom with FPS games, I have high hopes for it (it’s not a PS exclusive though).
Mar 22, 2020 Yeah, it's the most anticipated game for me right now. I was pissed that they pushed the release date back, but I saw it coming from a mile away. As I said I'm mostly playing RPGs (my beloved genre). I love Hitman series too. A lot of games this generation were just so boring, rehashed, dumbed-down. Fallout 4 is one of the biggest offenders of this.
Mar 22, 2020 Yeah, that's my whole point. A lof of these playstation fanboys made them seem bigger and better than they really are. Also PS exclusives were better in PS3 era.
Mar 22, 2020 I'm currently playing Days Gone, if you haven't played it yet, get it... One of the most fun games I've ever played, especially the hordes of Freakers lol. Yh, i liked Nioh too, the DLC became too hard so i gave up lol, and I've completed all the souls (Bar DS1) games. Thinking about getting the second game tbn.
Mar 22, 2020 I heard Days Gone was mediocre but I've been tempted cuz it takes place in the PNW where I grew up and I'm a sucker for post-apocalyptic s---. Based on the games you listed it seems like we have similar taste, so you think it's worth it? What changed after the update? @Guma I do agree with you that there's a problem this generation in making games open world that don't need to be open world. Like Far Cry 4/5 are some of the biggest offenders imo. Far Cry 3 was great cuz the plot was pretty linear but you had a certain amount of freedom as you went to your next objective and captured bases and stuff on the way. Far Cry 5 is just you wandering around doing random plot points out of order and it makes no sense lol. And Fallout 4 was def disappointing. They dumbed it down so much from the previous games. Also what is a walking simulator?
Mar 22, 2020 I prefer RPGs mostly. As far as action games go I like Arkham series. Other games off the top of my head: Hitman series, any multiplayer FPS, id software singeplayer FPSes, Max Payne series, Metro series, GTA, RDR, LA Noire, Hearts of Iron. I hate Assasin's Creed series since AC Revelations, but I like to play them from time to time, because they have nice vistas to look at. Yeah, FC3 was the last great FC. I agree with you on that. Mostly Ubisoft games are the biggest offenders of open world games tropes. As for Fallout 4 I had high hopes for it after Obsidian's New Vegas and bought it day one. I played it for like 120 hours and gave up, because it is such misguided Fallout (I wouldn't even call it Fallout tbh). Walking simulators are games with limited player input and interactivity. Most of the time they focus on showcasing graphics and setpieces.
Mar 22, 2020 They pretty much are. TLOU without cutscenes and story I so shallow. God of War became a walking simulator with this reboot.
Mar 22, 2020 I've legit never understood the console war. Now we have cross play, the only real difference for me is exclusives and neither xbox or ps have anything that drastic. I'll probably see what bundles are offered and I'll go from there.
Mar 22, 2020 Ah so you mean games that are more like interactive stories kinda? What games would you use as an example for that? Cuz I don't understood characterizing God of War and Last of Us as walking simulators. I thought they were both insanely fun as well as having an engrossing story/good cutscenes. I honestly never really liked Assassin's Creed. Story is cool but they're super repetitive to me, especially the combat.
