Another thing i noticed in that lyric image is I Am on the tracklist. Doesn't the story go that he recorded Way I Am after being forced to make a poppy single with TRSS? I might be misremembering that but either this proves the story is BS or that's a much different, early version of the track that we haven't heard.

You are correct. The way i am was the second last song to be recorded. He was angry cause of the first single issue. The real slim shady was the last song recorded.
So, interesting.. either ”I Am” is a completely different song, or a very early version with lyrics alot different than the finished version. There seem to be alot of interesting stuff from this era that they could release some time if they want to.. Hopefully mmlp25

'Way I Am' was not the last so it makes sense to see it there. As said, 'Real Slim Shady' was last and presumably not made yet when that list was written. I briefly owned that Eminem book. It was a s--- book but nicely put together. The hand written pages were the coolest part. I like looking at the writing, there's something very humanizing about seeing someone's notes.

I think Who Knew was supposed to be the first single and that was when they asked him to do another My Name Is.

I was listening to songs from the vinyl single and it does sound like in the second half of Quitter that some of the cursing is reversed but the music is untouched, the only answer is that it's official from the label or maybe a DJ played the 2pac instrumental in the background while they censored it. If it was leaked I can't see them a leaking a clean version and it's a diss track so I doubt they would want it cleaned up anyway.

Til' h--- Freezes Over was one of the first records Eminem did with Dre along with Ghost Stories, Role Model and My Name Is. Eminem says they can't find the master tape for it in their vaults but the version online is very good quality.

They couldn't clear the sample for Our House with Madness and considering what happened with Fred Dust and Limp Bizkit shortly after I'm not sure if Eminem would ever want it released even if Madness would allow the sample to be cleared now.

I think they could fill a CD with some nice rarities and outtakes. I'm sure some songs had different beats and different hooks and verses recorded. Maybe even some versions of the big singles like Stan but maybe with alternate vocal takes just to hear some of the differences he would make before settling with the vocals we hear on the final album.

The original tracklist had The Kids and s--- On You so I'm sure that is what he means. s--- On You was released as a separate D12 single and The Kids replaced Kim on the clean version of the album.

I think hip hop and rap are interesting genres in that even 20 years ago when it seemed to be at it's peak, you never really got B-Sides. Pop artists did it, bands did it, country artists did it, they would give you something on the CD or tape or vinyl that didn't make the album and that was the big appeal of buying singles. You bought them for the extra tracks, the hidden gems but it seemed like with hip hop the single was there to serve the DJs to play but even with the retail versions of singles for fans, it always tended to be other album tracks or older songs.

I wonder how they felt the Lose Yourself demo was received. That may have been the original demo, I'm sure there is multiple versions of Lose Yourself that got made along the way before we got the final version but it would be interesting to see if that is something he is interested in or if the conversations have ever happened where they thought about putting unreleased music out. It's just something rappers are not known for. I don't know if the reason is maybe not to take away from their latest project or to confuse fans and they might put older stuff out but people think it's new stuff or they don't want people preferring the older stuff to the new stuff. I think doing an anniversary release for the albums is a good way of doing that because it's tied to those projects and it wouldn't be confused as being a new project and it would be legacy material, vaulted material, it would have to be treated as something that's not meant to be in the charts or played on radio, it's a treat for fans. It's a snapshot from that time period.
