Jan 17, 2018 MMLP- Pretty much the best of prime Eminem, he pretty much went against everything that was 2000 pop culture and ended up being bigger than everyone he criticized. without this album there wouldn't have been 8 Mile or the rise of shady records. He took what he had on SSLP and perfected it into what is considered a classic album. 10/10 TES- This is what a more mature Eminem album should sound like. Unlike MMLP and SSLP he relied less on shock tactics and focused on storytelling, and rapping about his life from a very serious perspective. Only thing that puts it below MMLP is some of the filler on the album. 9.5/10 SSLP- This is the album that started it all and if it isn't a classic it does at the very least stand as a great album. Obviously today it sounds very dated and there are some weak songs on the album and some songs sounded better on the SSEP but that does not change the fact that this is in fact a very good album. 8.75/10 Relapse- Deciding between Relapse, Recovery, and MMLP2 for #4 is difficult and that is definitely not a good thing because each has their own flaws specific to that particular album. However I put Relapse at #4 because it has far better production than Recovery and MMLP2 and despite the accents it has some of Eminem's best rapping. However the accents are genuinely annoying and overshadow many of the good qualities of the album. This also was the last the last album to actually feel like an Eminem album. 8/10 MMLP 2- Not really a sequel to MMLP apart from Bad Guy and the occasional reference here or there but those just felt like they were in there to just create a facade of it being a sequel to the classic album. He has moments that prove he still has talent however this album laid the foundation for his choppy flow and I feel like Rap God's praise caused him to start trying to rhyme as many words as possible in future releases. This album also continued many of the bad habits he got during Recovery and also lacks any cohesiveness whatsoever. 7.5/10 Recovery- This album is what truly created corny and weird Eminem. After seeing Relapse get criticized for the accents he chose to revert to an even more annoying flow on this album. It literally feels like the guy is screaming at you on many of the songs. This was also the start of Eminem creating generic pop anthems with female hooks and corny lyrics. It also was the start of using generic beats and random and terrible producers. Almost any gripe with Eminem today can be traced back to Recovery. However, there are good songs on this album and he never reaches the lows that he does on Encore and Revival. 7/10 Encore- I was originally going to put Revival here until I realized that the highs of Encore are much better than the highs of Revival. Evil Deeds, Never Enough, Yellow Brick Road, Like Toy Soldiers, Mosh, Spend Some Time, Mockingbird, Crazy in Love, and Encore/Curtains down are all better songs than almost all of Revival. While this does have some of the worst songs of his career those songs at least still feel like Eminem which can't be said for Revival's worst songs which are just corny radio attempts. 5/10 Revival- Well this is pretty much as bad as it gets. Take the worst qualities of Recovery and MMLP2 and combine them for Revival. The only decent songs are Believe which is very forgettable, Framed which sounds like Relapse which is an album the guy acts like doesn't exist, and then Castle/Arose which actually are both good songs with a great concept and solid flows. However, the rest of the album is pure garbage which sometimes touches down to the lows found on Encore. The problem is that Encore at least had more solid Eminem songs than this does. MMLP Eminem would of made fun of an album like Revival. 3/10
Jan 17, 2018 Out of all the things wrong with this I'd really like you to elaborate on how D12World is better than Devil's Night.
Jan 17, 2018 great thread, been waiting years to rank the albums - just been waiting for someone to make a thread. Anyways i stacked up every album from best to worst then put them all in the bin. Can't remember the order.
Jan 18, 2018 1 - MMLP 2 - TES 3 - SSLP 4 - Relapse 5 - MMLP2 6 - Recovery 7 - Encore 8 - Infinite 9 - Revival
Jan 18, 2018 So Eminem on Shady XV is better than TES, huh ? No wayyy... But EMinem's technicality was on another level since he came back. I can give u that. But I'd prefer TES musically over any other rap album, same can be said about the content and his delivery &flow. TES was on another level.
Jan 22, 2018 Tes = A++ (nearly perfect imo other than the other verses on when the music stops, drip is good but not great.) Mmlp= A+ (Blassic) Sslp= A- (sounds aged but i like that, album is a time capsule for the late 90s. Em is at his funniest here and this is also one of his darkest, its just a tad subtle.) Relapse= B+ (Good horrorcore album, dope production and flows. Accents dont bother me much at all and nor do the r-----ed rapey lyrics.) Devils Night= B (every single em verse and hook on here is stellar, great beats and d12 only kinda f---s things up. Could have been a classic if it was a solo album.) Encore= B- (i personally dont think this album is bad at all. I only dislike 4 songs. Rest is tolerable to classic) Infinite= B- Recovery= B- (too pop, some s--- beats and really bad punchlines. Some good songs too. This could be a C+ idk) Mmlp2= C- (kinda sh--. bad beats, bad hooks. Em has some very solid rapping on this but it gets f----- up by the production and hooks that arent his own. Rap god is beta, so is monster.) Shady XV= D (this album is complete sh--, id give it an F it wasnt for the lose yourself demo. That was dope) D12 world= F (only like 40z, real b-----r) Revival= F (3 good songs, the rest is either completely forgettable or f---ing awful. Bad production, mixing, hooks, bars, flow, delivery. Just terrible.) Bonus: Straight from the lab= A (i like every song on this, shoulda been put into encore.) Straight from the vault= B (some of these songs are real gems, some arent.) The Re-up= C (no apologies is 10/10, so is jimmy crack corn. the rest is mehh, not really bad though.) h--- the sequel= ???? ( i dont remember s--- about this album. Havent heard it since 2012 or something)
