Nov 16, 2016 Sorry to single out Future but this covers pretty much all new school rappers like Lil Uzi Vert, Young Thug, Lil Yachty, Future, and Desiigner to name a few are very weak lyrically. Now, don't get me wrong I like these artists and have listened to Future, Thug, and Lil Uzi discogs front to back but they aren't real rap at the end of the day. Take Free Bricks 2 as the most recent example, look at the lyrics Future is spitting: "I'ma pour out this lean like Ace of Spade, it's on me Used to sip out the Texas, lightin' up, I'm on fleek" "I did the transaction, 10 M's this week Made a film, now I got to eat I got a dealership at the crib" "Zone 6 n***a, rob you for your bricks n***a Hit a lick n***a, f--- your main b---- n***a" "Young a--- n***a ridin' in a Flying Spur Young a--- n***as out here drinkin' on the syrup Young a--- n***a and he cookin' up the work Young a--- n***a servin' white, T-shirts" I mean not to take away from the okay sounding music but these lyrics are pretty awful, and not only that but they aren't creative at all. Not only has nearly every other trap rapper spit almost the exact same bars before (how many times has lick been rhymed with brick?) but Future himself has used things like the Ace of Spades bar half a dozen times in the last two years alone. Any of us could write these lyrics and it's embarrassing because this is the same genre that produced lyrical masterpieces like Liquid swords, Illmatic, Can-I-Bus, MMLP, and even the oft ridiculed Knock Madness And although some will call troll or something else because of the title, you know I'm not exaggerating. Check out for example the theme to American Dragon, Jake Long. At least there is some attempted wordplay like "he's cool he's hot like the frozen sun" and the actual 2 line rap part, although relatively cringy is lyrically not much worse than any of the Future bars I just posted. Or to go for an actual more rap example check out this disney movie, Lemonade Mouth. At 2:11 the rapping starts. Not only are his lyrics far better and actually on topic to the song, but his flow and rhyme schemes are far more technically impressive than anything Future has put out since Pluto 3D. I'm honestly embaressed for the genre because this is not only from a Disney movie about a ROCK band, but this dude is just a random white actor and he's out performing Future's rapping on any of the "7peat" with lyrics probably written by some 40 year old white executive. Honestly I don't want to hate because I like what these guys are doing but lyricism is dead and flow is dead because of autotune turning talented people like Future lazy. They just put out the same cookie cutter music over and over until they oversaturate and the next guy comes along, in-fact I heard him and Gucci made Free Bricks 2 in a couple of hours.
Nov 16, 2016 When I hear about how quick some particular artists make their music that to me does indicate there's not much effort in them. Some people will argue they're a goat who makes masterpieces at ease but these songs aren't masterpieces. Those artists do have Narsh fans though that are like an English teacher - finding hidden meanings and metaphors in text that just isn't there and that the author/musician had no intention of. If someone made a song in an hour and the lyrics are basic as f--- that to me means it's exactly that - a basic and lazy song which a lot of the time sounds like garbage to me personally.
Nov 16, 2016 The rg version is hilarious murk and mr folkmetaphysics got in their feelings http://genius.com/discussions/26255...-disney-songs-have-better-rapping-than-future
Nov 16, 2016 Exactly. This is not to judge the quality of the music (in terms of production/melody and how the song overall sounds) but rather the actual lyrics themselves.
Nov 16, 2016 Somewhere out there just now, Narsh started crying, and he doesn't know why. Good job OP
Nov 17, 2016 I still believe barrk is really a dog that barks with lisp that a scientist taught how to use a computer #justatheory
