May 31, 2017 The man made PLOO and hes not all that as a lyricist?? get outta here with that nonsense
May 31, 2017 Idk if this has been responded to or not but he explained that it wasn't shots he was expressing sorrow over proofs death which made him not want to go back to Detroit ( since proof was no longer there)
May 31, 2017 The Way I Am is not even one of the best songs on MMLP. Flow is insanely repetitive - it's that constant "da da DUM" (anapestic tetrameter), since he's mirroring the main melody. And he doesn't even pull it off too well after some time; it gets really awkward on the second verse. The second verse lacks multis, the multis it does have are poorly structured and awkward in placement as it pertains to flow, and his linguistic choices are just ehhh. With all of this nonsense it's constant And, "Oh, it's his lyrical content - - the song 'Guilty Conscience' has gotten such rotten responses" And all of this controversy circles me And it seems like the media immediately Points a finger at me (finger at me)... ^He's stuck rhyming "me" with "ly". So I point one back at 'em, but not the index or pinky Or the ring or the thumb, it's the one you put up ^He's playing a process of elimination. He takes so long to tell us he's pointing the middle finger at them, even though we got it by the time he said "I point one back at them". All of this just so he can do the awkward "pin-KY" rhyme, which is absurdly forced. He went there, he said pinKYYYY in a way no accent covers it just so he can do some weak rhyming while doing this awkward process of elimination. When you don't give a f---, when you won't just put up With the bs they pull, cause they full of s--- too The bs they pull...CUZ they're full of s---, TOO? They pull bs...and it's BECAUSE they're FULL OF s--- TOO. Make sense? The word "too" (which shouldn't be there) is there so he can force a monosyllabic rhyme with "school". These bars are embarrassing and don't do Eminem's intelligence justice. This is the same man who can flawlessly execute songs like Rock Bottom, 97 Bonnie and Clyde, and Kim. When a dude's gettin bullied and shoots up his school And they blame it on Marilyn (on Marilyn).. and the heroin Where were the parents at? And look where it's at Middle America, now it's a tragedy Now it's so sad to see, an upper class ci-ty Havin this happenin (this happenin).. Just ends suddenly on "happenin'," which doesn't rhyme with anything until the next bar with "-tack-Emin". The lyrics don't go with the flow. This is Encore-era type design where he's splitting rhymes between bars in awkward fashion. Then attack Eminem cause I rap this way (rap this way).. But I'm glad cause they feed me the fuel that I need for the fire To burn and it's burnin and I have returned Again, awkward bar ending. "Rap this way"...doesn't rhyme with anything until we get to "glad cuz they" in the next bar, but it's ineffective phonetically, especially because he takes a long pause before saying the next bar. Back to SSLP - yeah, because the comedic effect is all there is to it and he's not effectively telling you stories. And of course, subject matter is so ridiculously important to the point Eminem's serious, angry sounding and realistic songs are so much superior, even when they have inferior technical execution. As for your question, maybe the fact Brain Damage is flawless storytelling? Say Goodbye Hollywood resorts to monosyllabic rhyming (the all-time king of multis is doing nursery rhyme; dude's rhyming stuff like "dad" and "bad", genius!). It's rushed, while Brain Damage is actually something you can tell he took the time out to perfect. Sing For The Moment is one of the better tracks on TES and it's borderline flawless, but then you also have When The Music Stops with Eminem's drum mirroring (just as he does on Square Dance and Business) and the mediocre-as-usual D12 verses, Drips which is absolute filler, and overall misuses here and there that do not occur on SSLP. It's not about the subject matter, it's about the album being more properly executed.
May 31, 2017 What do you mean by more consistent lyrically? how would that prevent him being roasted by Canibus? the point of the thread is who would roast him during his peak years. I'm not saying Canibus is a better overall artist than EM, but rapping they are equal Yo go listen to Searching for Bobby Fischer by Evidence and Rap Music by Pacewon
May 31, 2017 I'm not saying he can't be roasted by Canibus. I'm saying Eminem is the better lyricist. You're assuming I'm saying something I never really said.
May 31, 2017 Ya I know what your saying, but he's not better as a lyricist, more consistent defiantly but not better
Jun 1, 2017 Yeah because butt and fart jokes are why Eminem is who he is. Ridiculous. He became a star through inventive lyricism, storytelling, sociopolitical commentary and concepts, and his best content is miles better than Pac's. And he's musically better. His best music is more memorable and more original. I would say that Brain Damage, Role Model, Rock Bottom, Who Knew, The Way I Am, Criminal, White America, Cleaning Out My Closet, Square Dance, Soldier, Say Goodbye to Hollywood, Without Me, Till I Collapse, Lose Yourself, 8 Mile Road, My Mom. Stay Wide Awake, Beautiful, Going Through Changes, S[ace Bound, Almost Famous, Rap God & a lot more can all be played many times. And I don't think there's a fart joke between them.
Jun 1, 2017 Hit 'Em Up is overrated. It's full of empty threats, "f--- yous", filler lines and the occasional actual good line. Outlawz being mediocre as usual too.
Jun 1, 2017 Lol haven't agreed with a single thing you've said in this thread tbh and certainly not gonna start here, hit em up and Eazy E's real muthaphukkin G's my 2 GOAT diss songs though.
Jun 2, 2017 A. Game said it 2 months after Eminem got clean so he was learning to do everything again. Doubt he was ready for a diss track. B. http://hiphopdx.com/news/id.7380/title.the-game-clears-up-eminemproof-diss# (He s----s a brick when it got leaked lmao) OT: Em in his prime no one is f---ing with him. Current Em can't f--- anyone unless its a kitchen appliance rhyming competition.
Jun 4, 2017 EM rhymes, and has the energy of a battle rapper.especially when he goes acapella, idc who it is, you let them all write and do what they have to, face to face, when it comes down to rhyming for the sake of rhyming, bars, insults, and delivery for that kinda contest, none of these guys are gonna roast em or beat him
