Easily a 10/10 classic. Production is top notch. Some of eminems greatest flows like role model. And obviously the cultural impact! Top 10 AOAT

For next page visibility: Because this is an Eminem album, I'm gonna require a few sentences at minimum for your rating to count in order to curb blind hatred/stanism. Also, if anyone tags EminemSXN I'm banning you from this thread for life.

i don't rly rate but personally like a solid 5/10 for me

it's always been one of my least favorite albums of his between his voice, how old it sounds and the lack of songs that actually do anything for me

What do you mean by 'how old it sounds'? It holds up the best of any Eminem album imo.

like the production and everything. like i can tell around when it was made just from listening, and i don't like that because it sounds old/dated

I think MMLP holds up better :idk:

I'd give it a solid 8/10. Theres not really a weak song on there, and SDGAF & Role Model standout to me as two Top 10 Eminem songs

PSA: Classic intro, comically cheesy yet not over the top [Null since skit]
My Name Is: The classic song that introduced so many people to Eminem, the classic voice is nostalgic, it's catchy and the song is pretty fun, but is a bit too silly too listen to a lot. [8/5/10]
Guilty Conscience: A personal favourite, clever, funny and a really cool dynamic. Not much more too say. [10/10]
Brain Damage: Amazing storytelling, funny and really paints a picture. Always loved the beat as well. [9/10]
If I Had: The softer side of shady, showcasing the lessons he's learnt, the problems he's facing and his don't give a f--- attitude. [9.5/10]
97' Bonnie and Clyde: Personal favourite, calm yet sinister and was an eerie first listen. Definite [10/10]
b----: A funny skit, not much more [Null since skit]
Role Model: HOLY s---, the rhyming, voice, and graphic lines amount to a legendary song [10/10]
    Lounge: [Null since skit]
My Fault: Another silly song with great storytelling, pizza remix is dope, shows eminems skill being put to sinister use. Pretty much as shady as it can get [9/10]
Ken Kaniff: Better than the MMLP skit [Null since skit]
c-m on everybody: Groovy song, never been the biggest fan [7.5/10]
Rock Bottom: Beautiful song, introspective, and showing his struggle [10/10]
    Just dont give a f---: Hahahhahhaaaaaaaa [9.5/10]
    Soap: whatever [null since skit]
As The world turns: Same deal with Brain damage [9.5/10]
Im Shady: Pretty cool song, love the pusherman hook [9/10]
Bad Meets Evil: A great duo in their time and age, seeing them bounce off each other is sweet [9.5/10]
Still Dont give a f---: Strong finisher that ties the album together [8.5/10]

    All together a [9/10] album

I dunno, I don't really follow that logic. You can tell Straight Outta Compton was made in the 80s by listening to it, you can tell Illmatic was made in the 90s by listening to it. It doesn't inherently detract from them.

old age does some s--- to albums made before a certain year that makes me really not like them as much as i could. it's definitely detracting from the albums value for me.

but even without that, like his voice on SSLP still bothers me and makes me cringe a bit, and i don't like even half the tracklist

    I'll give it a 6/10.

Pretty much none of Eminem's music held up for me. Brain Damage was good as it has some of his best story telling. If I Had and Rock Bottom are both bitter songs about his life. JDGAF & SDGAF are not bad either. My Fault and As The World Turns are probably my least favorite songs.

While typing this, I'm going through SSLP and I'm shocked at how well "I'm Shady" held up for me. It's one of his wittiest songs.

You gotta make 'em fear you before you make 'em feel you
So everybody buy my s--- or I'ma come and k--- you

Cause I'm the one they can relate to and look up to better
Tonight I think I'll write my biggest fan a f----you letter

I listen to your demo tape and act like I don't like it
Six months later you hear your lyrics on my s---

EDIT: Listening to Come On Everybody right now, his delivery was so effortless on this and the lines are so witty.

I go on stage in front of a sellout crowd
and yell out loud, "All y'all get the h--- out now"
    f--- rap, I'm givin it up y'all, I'm sorry

I'd like to nominate a Kevin Gates or Herb project for the next one.

I second this, I've never listened to a full project by either and would be a good way to get started.

I can point you in the right direction for both artists.

For Kevin Gates, go ahead and grab these projects:
    -Luca Brasi 1
    -Luca Brasi 2
    -By Any Means
    -ISLAH
    -Stranger Than Fiction

    As for Herb,
    -Welcome to Fazoland
    -Ballin Like Im Kobe
    -Pistol P Project

I, like many users here, used to be a huge stan. These days I don't find myself listening to Eminem very often, but when I do, it's pretty much 100% this album. It's a great showcasing of his technical ability without it sounding rappity rap-y for the sake of being rappity rap-y (Rock Bottom is a good example). He was actually funny back then, and I think it strikes the perfect balance between the cartoonish violence of the Slim Shady character (I'm Shady, Just Don't Give a f---), with his more introspective songs (If I Had, Rock Bottom), and narrative driven ones (Brain Damage, As the World Turns). The dated shock value/skits bring it down a bit...as a 25-year-old, listening to someone (who was older than me when he wrote it) rap about raping someone just does not do anything for me.
