Jun 4, 2016 Yeah now I remember you doing Fazoland, I was just looking at the list of the previous in your OP. For Gates, I'd probably go with LB2 but that's up to you. We have already discussed ISLAH a lot in the past 6 months so I don't think it would need to be ran in here.
Jun 4, 2016 It's my fav Eminem album. Has some great hits. It's funny, has some great storytelling, production is not really so outdated for me. Rock Bottom is one of his greatest songs for me. Back when he had his goat flow. f--- rap, I'm giving it up yall, I'm sorry But Eminem, this is your record release party! I still remember some lines from that album, and I didnt listen to it for a while. Definitely a classic. 9/10 I would like to nominate Vic Mensas latest mixtape, There's Alot Going On, because i feel like not enough people have listened to it, and it's dope.
Jun 4, 2016 9.5/10. A few songs/skits shorter and it would be a 10 for me. Dre's and Bass Brother's production suits Em's delivery and content matter perfectly. It's unique, inventive, funny and a pretty cohesive project. He masterfully walks the line between exceptionally skilled lyricist/rapper and 90's/00's MTV pop fodder. I rarely listen to Em at all these days and still prefer MMLP and TES (both 10/10 for me) but this album will always be one of my personal favourites.
Jun 4, 2016 u made me remember this classic of the Fix, THANKS MAN as for SSLP, I dont listen to it.. but when i think about it, it may be his most original, genuine and that has aged better album??
Jun 4, 2016 I'd rate this album a 8.5/10. This is obviously an awesome album. And as an artist its surely Eminem's life changing album
Jun 4, 2016 Solid 8.5/10 Some really classic songs.. Rock bottom, my name is .. Just to name 2.. Really showed how much talent Eminem had and really was a great album to begin his mainstream career.. At times I think it's his best album. Some of the beats were fantastic.. And he was actually able to be funny on this album, unlike today where he's just on the corny side of funny
Jun 4, 2016 I'm Shady is one of my favorite Eminem songs of all time. Witty, flow is great, chorus is nice and I love the beat. Like you, I don't listen much to the serial killer/raping type of songs, but Rock Bottom, Brain Damage, If I Had Role Model & As The World Turns held up very well for me and I still enjoy them. Like every eminem album, it's not one I revisit very often: I listen to individual songs from them and despite him falling off, there are many songs I would give a 10/10. As for this album as a whole, I'd give it a solid 8/10.
Jun 4, 2016 I'm not a fan of My Name is, My Fault, or As The World Turns, I gave it a 6 because after today, I probably won't even think of this album again for a while. It still lacks replay value to me. I praised Brain Damage but I honestly have no desire to listen to it at all, even when I quick went through the track list before I typed my opinions on SSLP.
Jun 4, 2016 it's a good album, but definitely not great. on this album, eminem's voice sounds like a 12 year old and that's one of the few things i don't like about it. however, he still raps his a--- off and it shows just how talented he is. some of the songs like rock bottom and if i had are excellent, but most of the songs are there to just show off his lyrical ability, such as role model, i just don't give a and i still don't give a. overall, a good debut that definitely caught the attention of hip hop listeners. 7 out of 10
Jun 4, 2016 The album has some of my favourite Eminem songs of all time (SDGAF, Rock Bottom, Brain Damage). Lots of phenomenal story telling on here. The album gives off a cartoony vibe which I really like and I really like the production. Album is a great introduction to Eminem. Negatives for me would be songs like My Name Is or My Fault. I don't hate them but I very rarely listen to them. 8/10
Jun 4, 2016 8 This was probably the most interesting we've seen Eminen rap. It's childish and wacky but there is a high level of focus when he does get personal. The production even kind of takes shape of Eminem's persona on here, Dre abandons some of his patented G-Funk to give SSLP it's dark sound. The content isn't for me but overall it's still a good piece of work that set up what I believe is his most seminal work in the MMLP.
Jun 4, 2016 9/10 I just don't think there's one skippable track on this, My Name Is served its purpose, production is phenomenal, it stood the test of time. "If i had a million bucks it wouldnt be enough because id still be out robbin armored trucks" -If i Had
Jun 4, 2016 9/10 Brilliant. Among the countless narratives of African Americans fighting against the system and themselves, this White boy stands out like an erect d-ck, just as angry, with his own story to tell. "He makes this quite obvious with the first song "My name is" formally introducing himself to the the listener as a doped up white boy out of control. And not in a 'cool' way like being a gansta, he keeps it very comical and parodies himself without any shame. A break from the streets and into the trailer park in itself is quite refreshing. He raps about his childhood a lot, he raps about his poverty and his lack of fame, He basically expresses his pent up anger at the world. All this accumulated into the alter ego slim shady. Every song on the album is creative in it's own right. Some with deeper meaning like "Rock bottom" those with psychopathic tendencies like "97 bonnie and clyde" and those that serve to showcase his arguably GOAT skill like "SDGAF" Every song keeping the same level of rawness throughout without anything sounding like the word "n-----" involved, not even mentioning the endless skill . The character overall that he showcases is original and brilliant. And with a solid production and consistency throughout. I can't find a single song in there that i think isn't a great song. And even though everything is character and comical, a lot of truth is said in jest. And Eminem contrasts the actual consciousness of the album with the stories about raping a fat girl without either feeling out of place
Jun 4, 2016 8/10 eminems best album, some of the best lyricism ive ever seen but the subject matter really puts an asterisk on that. Im not a big fan of edgy eminem songs, but role model made me burst out laughing. kim isnt on this so thats a plus
