Jan 30, 2020 tyler has always been terrible to me. nothing special at all and does nothing good. This is also a ver boring album
Feb 23, 2020 Third verse of Blue Laces 2 is better than anything your favorite rapper could ever write.
Feb 29, 2020 should we merge these threads? f--- it merging 'em edit: done. interest list of ratings in the OP
Feb 29, 2020 Based upon 6 ratings, SXN80 gives Tyler the Creator's Flower Boy an 8.7. Next up... @RateThisAlbum Kodak Black - Heart of the Projects (2014)
Feb 29, 2020 Oops looks like @Sav Stanfield already added it up in OP and I came up with a different score for Flower Boy. I didn't count thereturn's rating of 4/10 cuz he didn't post any sort of review and six words saying he sucks doesn't count to me.
Feb 29, 2020 Heart of the Projects - Kodak Black: 7/10 The score doesn't really do justice of how much I loved this tape now that I've been reacquainted with it. Institutionalized is what made me a Kodak fan, this is the one that cemented that interest for good. It's rough around the edges like most burgeoning mixtapes but much like anything Kodak does, when he's on the ball, the outcome is always going to be a splendid song. More so, it's just crazy to see his growth from the mixtape days to what he's capable of doing on his last projects like Dying to Live.
Feb 29, 2020 Heart of the Projects will always hold a special place in my heart (no pun intended) cuz it kinda marks the last gasp of the free mixtape era before streaming took over. From the length to the sound and the raps themselves, it feels like a true free street tape. It was the first project I ever heard by him (though admittedly a year or so late) and songs like "SKRT" and "Pelican" and "Honeybun" and "I Remember" made me a fan. It was Painting Pictures, however, that truly hooked me, because to me that was kinda start of him moving to a more freestyle, melodic sound that culminated with Dying to Live. On my last road trip over summer 2019 I started listening to Heart of the Projects again for the first time in ages and I regained an appreciation for the tape. It's insane to me that people listen to this and call it """mumble rap.""" Been listening to this on a weekly basis for months now and it never gets old. My only real criticism is that it's a little too long, but off the top of my head I can't even think of anything I'd cut. Also I think I accidentally conditioned my ex to like Kodak because I had "SKRT" as my alarm for like a year lol. Insane that he made this when he was 16-17 years old. It's a shame he's a piece of s--- lol. 8.5/10
Feb 29, 2020 Kodak's magnum opus right here, most of the time when I play kodak, it's this mixtape. 8/10
Feb 29, 2020 would need to actually go back to this to speak specifically; off the top it's like my fifth favorite kodak tape
Mar 1, 2020 woah I have not listened to this in a looooong time. Gonna need to revisit to give this a proper rating
