Aug 1, 2019 Good choice! Another one thats divided. Btw I wasn't trying to be a d-ck saying having only albums everyone loves is boring, just meant that having some that people generally don't like can me good discussion as well!
Aug 2, 2019 Late but... Take Care - 8.4/10 Spoiler Cried in my pillow revisiting this, jokes aside I'm not shocked that this holds up so well. This was Drake slowly coming out of that blatant Wayne/Kanye influence (although you can still see traces of it still in his rapping on TC) and embracing that lonely, heartbroken persona he's come to be known as. There is a consistent theme to this record, it sort of feels like you're actually in that dim-lit little diner room on the cover listening to this while Drake still somberly staring at the dinner table. Some of his strongest songs are on here; Over My Dead Body, Crew Love, Marvin's Room, Cameras/Good Ones Go, Look What You've Done are all seminal Drizzy cuts. I personally feel NWTS was him truly coming out of this shell that still encases parts of Take Care, but othwerwise I have little else to add on to this. I'm still enjoying this 8 years later, Drake has took us on a wild ride. Invasion of Privacy - 7/10 I forgot who once said this, but this album is essentially the Get Rich Or Die Tryin for Thots. Cardi in her own right is a electric personality, either magnetizing or repelling you depending on your perspective. I was still surprised at her range that she displayed on this album, this gave me a glimpse that she was inevitably going to be a superstar whether we liked it or not (then again this is a typical Atlantic Records release). Going back to that range, she's able to switch up her flow and cadence to fit the right mood and on this album that s--- is constantly changing with each subsequent song. Granted this sort of thing sums up modern releases to a tee; cohesiveness is sacrificed for singular songs catered to streaming playlists, Invasion Of Privacy pretty much plays through something like Drake's More Life. This is detrimental to my listening experience, but there are some genuinely decent moments on this that I still have some fondness for.
Aug 2, 2019 Invasion of Privacy gets a 3.8 based on 13 ratings. Next up... Kanye West's Yeezus Yeezus is a fantastic experience that I'd never get back again. Production wise, it's possibly Ye's best produced album to date. Kanye may have fell lyrically a bit here but still doesn't do a bad job here. Not one bad track on here. Final score 9.5/10. Hate me all you want, I don't give a f---. @RateThisAlbum
Aug 2, 2019 10/10 This is what God was trying to tell Moses in the 10 Commandments but that dumb f--- misinterpreted
Aug 2, 2019 Prob a 6/10. Personally, I rank this last in his discography. A lot of the beats just sound like noise toe and his lyrical ability took a HUGE downturn from MBDTF to this. A few songs I like but over all not enjoyable for me.
Aug 2, 2019 mehhhh one of the weakest of Kanyes albums by a margin. Only couple songs I like which I individually search for, wont go through this album again a lot of mediocre tracks, not to mention the opening track made me feel like I wanted to throw the whole thing away. 5/10
Aug 2, 2019 3/10 when I first heard this s--- I seriously thought Kanye was trolling us with a dummy album, I was wrong.
Aug 2, 2019 7/10 Solid album but way overrated imo. After 2 masterpieces (MBDTF & WTT) lots of these songs got silly lyrics, overproduced beats. Hold My Liquer and Black Skinhead are f---ing classics though!
Aug 2, 2019 This is a tough one for me. I remember when it came out, I was like 'What the f--- is this, MBDTF was 10/10 and this s--- sounds like a joke", but after some time I started to like this, it's not perfect, but it's entertaining for sure. I still listen to some songs off it, so 7.5/10
Aug 2, 2019 10/10. Kanye's best album, simultaneously cohesive and disjointed, still one of my favorite front-to-back listens to this day
Aug 2, 2019 wat if anything MBDTF/WTT are overproduced, they're maximalist, luxury beats. Yeezus sounds industrial/noisy but a lot of the songs are pretty minimal compared to the previous two albums.
Aug 2, 2019 I’m listening to this on vinyl as I type actually. Hold My Liquor just started. Seems to me like a lot of people are divided on this. You either really enjoyed it or you thought it was a failed experiment. This is definitely in my top 3 Kanye albums, but I’m not sure exactly where. The production is definitely my favorite aspect of this album. Only track I skip every time is I Am a God. Tons of replay value in imo. 9/10 “Black girl sippin white wine Put my fist in her like a civil rights sign”
Aug 2, 2019 Never comnected with this but i can see why people would like it (mainly hipster f--s). Probably my least listened to kanye project besides ye and tlop. 7.5/10.
Aug 2, 2019 Yeezus tour turned me into a Stan. If you missed out on that I feel bad. On second thought I feel bad for myself because no show will ever come close. He even did Street Lights in Philly
