    for f---s sake, can we stop with the metacritic bs? Everyone understands that this album was widely praised among critics but if you can't formulate your own opinion and reasoning as to why you think so highly of the album then that's a problem.

    from what I read, people who dislike TPAB simply don't like it for personal reasons, but it has nothing to do with the production of the album itself which I feel was flawlessly done. Hence the 10 rating.

    Extremely innovative and creative, but the message got ahead of the music. Wasn't very cohesive or consistent, and ended up relying on cheap plot twists to keep the listeners attention.

    I know this is a discussion thread, everything is already being discussed but I would love to see a SXN80 debate team. 2 users, one against TPAB and one for TPAB, while people watch and see who had the best debate.

    Nah. Illmatic is incredible and probably the best hip-hop album of all-time but I don't think it's a 10. This idea of a "perfect album" is mythical tbh.
