Jun 7, 2018 It's got some of his most cringing writing of all time. LIke, abysmal. It was the first time I heard Eminem like a human. Like up to that point he was a superhero, he could do no wrong lyrically. Obviously Encore is s--- but the s--- songs... he's not trying, he's being lazy and stupid. But Recovery was like he was trying REALLY hard lol... "You said it want your punchlines a little more compact..." < then goes on to write the longest lead-up in history for calm batman/combat man pun. The fact he was oblivious to that irony is unbelievable. "I'm an uncooked slab of beef laying on the kitchen floor. Other words I'm off the meat rack"?... Seriously lol. This is complete cringe. There is no craft in that writing, he's just saying it "I'm standing on my monopoly board... that means I'm on top of my game"... TERRIBLE lol. But, the good outweighs the bad. Overall, the songs, the album... Solid.

Jun 7, 2018 Yeah the writing on Recovery isn’t the best lol MMLP2 and Shady XV has some of his top writing/wordplay tbh Like this from Fine Line is so f---ing genius: “So a martyr’s (artist) how I paint myself And through my harrowin' (heroin/e) ordeals I’m so vain (vein) I want my respect” And this one from Evil Twin “Now I've been hip-hop in it's tip-top form Since N.W.A was blaring through my car windows Leaning on the horn, screaming "f--- the police!" like cop p--- Flipped rap on its ear like I dropped corn f--- top five, b----, I'm top four And that includes Biggie and Pac, whor- And I got an Evil Twin So who the f--- do you think that third and that fourth spot's for?” The delivery on that is incredible too ^^

Jun 7, 2018 Yeah well Wayne is just walking annoyance, so I'm not about to stick up for his writing. The voucher line is awful. But that monopoly line is really bad. There is no skill or poetry or structure to it. He just thinks 'game... monopoly... on top of... okay, let me stand on monopoly!!' lmao, it's terrible. A great pun needs to make sense as a line, by itself. Stand by itself. 'Full of myself but still hungry' for example; if there was no puns happening there... that line still makes total sense. He's combined phrasing which works as a dichotomy, without compromising anything, and it's concise and smart. That's just great writing. The monopoly line is so bad, as that line can only exist for the purpose of the pun. It makes absolutely no sense by itself. It's really dumb, clunky writing. Recovery era is some of his worst wordplay ever. MMLP2/Shady XV some of his best. He really went from 0 to 100.

Jun 7, 2018 Recovery punchlines are literally 90% s--- tier. Like entry level baseline puns with no wit or attempt at wit. He just says this cause that throughout the whole album even if it doesn't actually make sense or it isn't actually something people say. It's terrible lol. Truly awful
