Sep 21, 2018 You'd put it that far above SSLP/MMLP? I've always felt there are a handful of songs on this album that bring it down below the other two even if it has some of his best work ever. But I've also always preferred the SSLP-era Eminem on a personal level.
Sep 21, 2018 SWYS is boring and Drips is gross, but I agree other than that. It's definitely his most retrospective album.
Sep 22, 2018 It’s the last Eminem album that I really enjoyed. I did however feel that Eminem was beginning to fall off a bit lyrically on that album. Not significantly but just enough for me to take some notice. I remember buying it a few days early. One of my favorite record stores, The Wiz, went out of business around that time. That was a huge loss because it was one of my favorite places to buy albums. I also remember blasting TES while playing GTA 3 back then. Great times.
Sep 22, 2018 Probably his best album. I was 15 when it came out and I never stopped listening to it ever since. Only song I skip sometimes is "say what you say". The last verse of "my dad's done crazy" is the perfect ending, one of the best one a rap album. On "sing for the moment", he sounds so untouchable. I never understood how he could just satisfy himself with Encore after wards, though it had a few great songs, it was TES's shadow.
Sep 22, 2018 Agreed all round there. I like TES a lot. It is a good listen and has many bright spots. It's not perfect though. I'd probably shave off all the posse cuts (Drips, When The Music Stops, Say What You Say) as they're just not up to par with the best on there. I really like skits on Eminem albums but the Paul/Steve skits aren't much fun here either.
Sep 24, 2018 I first heard this album in August or September 2002. I still remember this 1st track - WHIIITE AMMEEERRIIICCAAA It was the first rap album I heard in my life. Until now, I can not believe that the person who made this masterpiece could make such a mediocre album as Kamikaze and MMLP2.
