Dec 12, 2014 I think J Cole is more similar to Big KRIT than KDot or Drake. His music is good, but it's not trendsetting or steering the genre in its direction. I don't think that means its worse either.

People and not stans would recognise a bad song; of course with such big fanbases there are some groupies, but it's not like there are examples (songs, full projects) to support what you said. Both rappers improved a lot since their first mixtapes, and especially Kendrick who was much more active and was featured in a shitload of songs between S80 and GKMC has earned his status I think. I think it's safe to say that, even if they actually drop mediocre stuff (Drake has a few throwaway tracks, and some filler in NWTS), neither will manage to drop something genuinely bad in the near future.

It's funny once I thought about this thread title it was actually true. Was there any other artist in the history of rap that had owned the year off features alone and a few throw away songs?
