Jul 31, 2018 Sure, Cardi doesn’t write a good portion of the music, and her collaborators obviously deserve a share of the praise, but this album is incredibly consistent with hit after hit to the point where it feels like a spiritual successor to GRODT. She reclaims so much of hip-hop’s misogyny at every turn. She’s a likeable character by default so her braggadocio has you rooting for her instead of feeling alienated or solely motivated in your own self-interest. She’s in touch with herself and vulnerable and no less powerful because of it. I definitely think this is an AOTY contender. Curious if others continue to feel such a strong impression from it.
Jul 31, 2018 I don't think there's one song on Invasion Of Privacy that couldn't hit the Billboard top 10 if they pushed it enough.
Jul 31, 2018 It’s a more attainable and venerable power fantasy for women than the suburban kids who were listening to 50 talking about street crime had tbh.
Jul 31, 2018 Yup, I relistened to this for the first time in a minute the other day and it holds up amazingly well. Great album.
Jul 31, 2018 My opinion is still the same as after the first listen, most songs are bangers and it's lyrically way better than I expected it to be. Trough Your Phone and She Bad still my least favourite tracks, Sza feature is the best track on the album IMO, followed by Get Up 10, I Like It, Best Life... but tbh I overplayed (and heard on the radio so many times) all the singles so much that I can't even be objective anymore. Be Careful (or whatever it's called lol) is the weakest single IMO. The album is consistent and with minimum filler, definitely a contender for aoty
Jul 31, 2018 I didn't expect to like this at all but I listened to it awhile back and actually thought it was pretty good
