Bait thread title but I see your point.

Eminem, at his core, is not an A&R and businessman type who can properly groom artists. He's no Jay-Z, Kanye, Diddy, Dre, or even Wayne in that aspect. All five have done a great job grooming their artists for success.

Eminem is a battle rapper at heart who just so happened to become one of the biggest artists of this generation. Nothing wrong with that but that's the main reason why a lot of post-50 Cent artists on Shady haven't really popped. Eminem is a hermit who stays to in his own world and has been out of touch with the modern hip hop world until he got that Revival wakeup call and switched it up on his last two albums.

It does kind of stink though how Yelawolf is Em's only true new school successor while Dre has Kendrick/Anderson Paak, Wayne had Drake/Nicki, Jay has J Cole/Rihanna, Kanye has Big Sean/Kid Cudi, etc. h---, even Diddy's artists MGK and French Montana have more commercial success than Yelawolf ever had....d---.

But, at the end of the day, it's no big deal to Em at all since he has enough star power on his own to carry Shady/Aftermath.

Lots of inaccuracies in the OP but I think the most egregious on is the the claim of falling out with Bass Brothers over money.

Not true. It's well documented that Eminem blames them for his drugs addiction.

What’s success when you lose your respect in the game
None of your artists are doing good sales wise and you can’t do anything to promote because ppl don’t even respect you no more

Wait... in what sense was Yelawolf a success? Didn’t his albums go double copper?

You're kinda agreeing with me. I'm saying compared to other rapper's new school proteges, Yelawolf is pretty unsuccessful.
h---, even Drake helped PartyNextDoor gain success mainstream wise. Hot d---.

Yelawolf, Slaughterhouse, 50 Cent, Obje Trice, Creekwater etc, etc. Em has surrounded himself by talent only to waste it entirely. He talks so much about Crooked, no collab song. He talks up Cole, no collab song. He talks up Kendrick and we get love games. Em is top tier for me but as far as his decisions for features go, he's always been terrible. Back when Drake was doing some good s--- we got forever but never a collab either. Only for we, no one on one s---. Ice Cube, Snoop, Kanye.... The list is endlesa

Em gets respect from the ones who matter. Look at the hate snoop got for voicing his opinion. Em has had more billboard success this year alone than his first 3 albums combined. Younger generation just clout chase. There’s people who genuinely don’t like his style or recent music and there’s nothing wrong with that. Then there’s the salty haters who act like he hurt them personally.

The only thing I’ll agree with here is that what he did to half of D12 is way more f----- up than anyone, including D12 will acknowledge. He totally used them for credibility, and anyone denying that they gave him a lot of credibility in the black hip hop community either didn’t witness it or is in denial. Sure he made them a little money and got them some short-term fame but when it came time to set them up for long-term success he totally abandoned them. He could have helped them get back on their feet but instead he just made that s-----y apology song. Kuniva, Swift and Bizarre are not in good shape right now and he definitely owes them more than he has even thought about attempting to do imo.

I think you're confusing successor for successful. By successor, I'm talking about a new school artist that was supposed to be Em's protege like how Drake was supposed to be Wayne's protege.

    He hasn't though bro lol.

Anybody who matters aka rap legends, his peers; not salty, racist or irrelevant rappers / all respect him - Jay, Nas, Rakim, all of Slaughter (except Joe, though Joe is still an Em fan actually anyway), anybody worth mentioning speaks highly of him and places him high.

You can't lose your spot when you make SSLP, MMLP & TES. Even if you made any one of those you'd have a spot; the fact he made all three of 'em? He's immortal, doesn't matter what other s--- he does.

Regarding his relationships - most of those are business breh, they might act like friends for magazine covers etc. but those are signees, most of which chose to move on or separate of their own accord, and most of which still speak highly of him even though it doesn't benefit them aka Obie Trice and D12.

He isn't cycling through friends like you're implying - he's cycling through artists, because that's what a label does... it's a business, like new product offerings.

Even Ca$his, Stat Quo and of course 50... and Yela. Who speaks badly of him? Only Joe Budden. Joe Budden, notorious for f---ing up relationships and being a salty nut in almost every scenario he's involved in lmao.

If Em crossed any of them, did any of them wrong or was such a turd, they wouldn't all still speak so well of him as a person too.

Many of them fail after a while because... it is what it is, they're not talented enough to hit big enough or for long enough, they have their moment and fade out, like 99% of every artist, every movie, every-thing in every category. The Em's and the Kendrick's of the world are extremely rare.

Em hasn't had a Kendrick on his label yet. He's had a 50, a commercial juggernaught and once good melodic hit rap maker, but also extremely limited, so he's also now faded out.

I’d say Eminem is to 50 Cent, what Dre is to Kendrick/Paak etc

Jay, Em, Wayne, Kanye and Drake get the most hate because they're the most successful. Backpackers despise successful rappers.

My bad, thought you meant he didn’t mentor anyone. 50 probably not better than the others but definitely the bigger act up against them. Can’t see Em mentoring any new gen artists, lyricism is becoming a lost art. Hopefully when he retires he ghost writes for just one person.
