Royce would be Mickey Factz to y’all without any link to Shady records

I used to listen to some Royce, Death is Certain and his s--- with Em.. but yeah I get where y'all come from,
He is just an uninteresting songwriter overall, rappity rap bs, and his whole persona seems kinda s-----y also.

For some people maybe, but don't generalise.

EDIT: It's like I said you f--- with Hov just because he linked with Kanye.

This is really stupid way of thinking.

Apples to oranges. Kanye and Hov top 5 commercially successful ever. Royce is a niche artist most people know because of Eminem.

the real comparison would be saying I f--- with Memphis Bleek, or some s--- like that because of Jay, which I don’t. But that’s a more fair example

Still proves my point - saying we listen to Royce because of Em connection is stupid, whether they're successful or not.

I don’t even hate Royce like that, Rock City is a good album, but I swear dudes will just gas any rapper who can rhyme a couple syllables and drop a simile like “BARS this guy is top 10”

i posted that because it has lyrics on, not because someone has highlighted the rhymes (they usually miss a few every bar anyways) and who actually uses rap genius this decade?

not sure why everyone always uses the same tropes to downplay people’s abilities that are associated with em, in either insulting us the fans, or just the artist solely on the basis they’re in ems camp. yes royce does get overrated by em’s stans but we’re not saying he’s the best in the world are we? this is an apparently serious conversation about whether he is a contender for top 200?

if you can’t hear or see the talent in that video then you’re just being purposely ignorant, because I know you’re capable of seeing rap skill, i know you’re half trolling, as have i, but come on now

also when it comes down to it, i see a lot of the side of the argument against royce is to do with his song-writing, but we’re talking about rap skill, of course the guy can’t make a song for his life, that’s obvious

I was joking with my comment you quoted but I’m absolutely serious that I don’t consider Royce a top 200 rapper. There’s a lot of rappers!!! Straight up! I enjoy Lil Pump but he’s not a top 200 rapper either lol.

I have no issue with someone putting Royce on their own top 200. Obviously Royce can rap. But the idea that he’s a top 25 working rapper or whatever is ludicrous to me lol

i think if i was to carefully calculate who i consider top rappers of all time, including uk (which a lot of people in this argument wouldn’t be able to do just because of location) then i could maybe feasibly knock him out of the top 50 but surpassing that i think there’d be a lot of subjectivity on who/what qualifies & is valued more in the MC apparatus overall, we’re not talking about discographies here. but in one sense i feel like including rappers that 99.9% of people in here haven’t heard of is irrelevant to the argument anyways, but putting someone like even kanye ahead of royce is dumb as f--- in this context & completely missing the point of the discussion (or comes from someone who is legit confused about rap in general lol)

I know it gets heated when arguing about your favs but I hope everyone knows it’s just jokes. Part of online rap culture has always been clowning rappers you don’t like and playing up how much they s--- whether it’s Kanye, Royce, Migos, or Lil Pump. One of the greatest things about of rap as a genre is just how diverse it’s grown to be. There’s room for all of us to go out of our comfort zone and listen to stuff we don’t normally listen to.

i’d enjoy the confrontation more if each camp also appreciated each other publicly when they f--- with the music but instead they’ll keep up the online persona of clowning ‘real rap’ whilst secretly listening to it on the side, same applies vica versa with ‘mumble rap’ hate too, bare annoying man lol

What context is this? Cuz there’s pretty much zero metric I can think of where I could take a look at both Kanye and Royce’s primes/entire careers and be like “yeah Royce is better” lol.

Edit: I guess like a more dexterous rapper? But that doesn’t mean much to me without great music to be used in
