Half-marathon is tomorrow! I ran 2 miles today, for the first time in 2 weeks. Still kinda sick so it was hard to breathe. I think I've given up hope on beating my half-marathon time from last time (2:10) and just hoping to finish now. Took a serving of B12 and I have ibuprofen for the leg/knee pain I know I'm going to have.

Made a 2 hour 30 mins playlist, so hopefully my race doesn't take longer than that. Tried to get only energetic rap songs.. mostly recent. Don't make fun of my choices

Wow I can't believe how long of a time it's been since you originally hurt it, it feels like forever since were able to post about your runsI hope for the healthiest outcome, my friend.

Looking forward to pics and video! I don't know if I could watch the video though haha.. seeing the inside of a knee sounds pretty cray.

I hope it's healing well! Looking forward to you joining the thread and posting runs.Jakey, Ordinary Joel and Nori like this.Nov 24, 2025(This ad goes away when signing up) -

Haha d---. It's probably better than my story of breaking my ankle. I was late to school. I used to walk to the bus from my back patio. So as I'm leaving, I hear the bus and take off running. Turns out there was a 2'x2' sewage line w/o the cap on, so my left foot goes in and all the force of my momentum goes backwards in my ankle. Broke it, tore ligaments, even had a screw put in place. Had surgery then the screw removed short after, and I was back in football in under 6 months. s-----y experience but after the rehab it feels stronger than my other ankle.
It's a great exercise. Used to be able to do figure 8's, backwards, double jumps, skips. I have legs today so I'm gonna work in 15 minutes of this sometime during my workout.Ordinary Joel, Jakey and Nori like this. -

Ah, alright. I always do a couple of weeks of that before I get back into running. I'm not sure exactly why it makes me feel faster, but I've always found it helps whenever I take a break from running and then get my a--- kicked on the first run back. I used to use a thick weighted one but then I wanted to incorporate tricks and stuff to work my arms a bit more so I use this

I wish I could say I was playing basketball, but it was later that night at a party playing table tennis.
The doctor said it was a freak accident. I kinda jumped in the air celebrating a point then I heard multiple cracks in my foot. It's quite crazy because it cracked as I lifted off rather than when I landed.
I managed to finish the game but when I sat down I couldn't get back up lol.Ordinary Joel, Poohdini and Nori like this. -

Hey, good luck man. That's awesome. Don't worry about the lack of running prior to the race. I recall reading that a couple of marathoners do absolutely nothing a few days prior to the race. Take pics for us
And thanks
Recovery could be anywhere from 1 week to 2 months depending on how it goes. If I tore the inner meniscus where there's no blood supply, then they just cut that part out and I'm back to running in a few days but only bad part is early onset arthritis in my like 60s I think. If it's a tear on the outer rim, then they stitch it and save all of it but I think I have to be in a brace for like 6 weeks D:
That means I'll have to do PT to deal with the muscle loss from the brace. It'd be the healthiest outcome for me but it'll mean a longer recovery.
I'll take pics on my way to the hospital and try to see if my doctor is willing to record the operation.Ordinary Joel, Mimi and Jakey like this. -

Just did a mile and half after hitting legs.
Shoutout to all the new years gym rats. I hate you mof-'s for taking up all the free weights & machines, but I respect the hustle.

GM!I want to join you all!ive been reading through this thread, and it's a great idea and motivator.
it's been way too long since I last ran, so I dl this app, called C2K5, which I used when I first got into it..
and I bought new running shoes as well.
I just wanted to say that my first time back I wanted puke; good run though. I think I built running memory cus I didn't stop in between my runs? so thats cool. this is a 9 week thing and then I'll go into mymapfitness.
yay!

Oooh, you're shoes are looking very nice =D and nice work on the run and over mileage! Dont know about you but I prefer the colder weather over warmer to run in, maybe not at the start but after the body temp goes up it's nice. Sucks when you do trip up running, as you're already in motion, rather than just fall you do a bit of a superman towards the ground =/ hope you're healing up nicely.
I have bought a lot of stuff recently. Back at work so thought it only right to treat myself now that I have money. Would like to post some pics up to share but might have to wait until I have some free time before I get them up.
Finally reached my first proper distance goal, made it up to 15km!! yay. My time is terrible though. I'm proud of the distance I can run and how long I can run for separately, but together it's not really something to be beaming about. Oh well. Now to work on times. I have been able to cut time from my first long run till now by 9 minutes by having the first run in the middle of a hot day so a sneaky little trick to encourage myself =p.Loyalty, Final and gorealsteady like this. -

@Loyalty hope you weren't too run off you're feet and did get some time to enjoy yourself.
And I'm very tempted to drop a couple hundred tomorrow on some new s---. Went for a browse for new shoes today and the shoe store is having a sale until pm tomorrow... sooo... it only makes sense to buy them now while they are cheap.
And I hope so too. He gets so excited when he sees me put on my gear, I hate having to tell him to stay back. Lucky for him I've upped my distance so when he is back out there he will get a real good run! -

Thanks! My longer runs lately have been going pretty well. I've been doing 5-6 miles at a 9:15-9:30 pace which is a steady jog for me. For the 6 mile run I actually jogged the entire time which I can almost never do. But I was away for a wedding for 4 days so it slowed down my training, had a bad run today :/
What app do you use to track your runs? You should get a GPS running watch. I've had the Garmin one for a few years now and it works great!Final, Mimi and lil uzi vert stan like this.Nov 24, 2025(This ad goes away when signing up) -

Good luck increasing your pace! It always sucks when you finish a run with a slower time than you aimed. It's so hard to cut times though, you're already out there pushing yourself, focusing on posture, all the different ways your body should be moving, hitting the ground... it's hard to remember to run faster =p
I don't know if I would actually use a metronome, there's a part of me that wants to but I don't know if I could run without my music, but if I ever do I'll write up a review in hereMy run today was just over 45mins, not sure on the distance, my app says I'm doing more than I actually am, running over water and out to random areas, but I do need to sit down and figure out the distance because I would like to know.
I know that dread feeling, I think I feel that before every run, but once it's over with I'm always fine and it has me feeling great. -
