May 15, 2016 @MTY i have other songs on mmlp2 that i can use btw but go on, explain to me how em doesn't have flow, lyrics or technique in rap god and then show me an artist that does
May 15, 2016 good songwriting? lets go with kendrick and my favorite song by him, "u" there's actually real, tangible emotions here. he is pouring his heart out and you can really feel it. he doesnt feel the need to throw in some dumbass technical bs, he is bringing you lyrics from the heart and presenting it in a flow that doesn't feel annoying or forced, it feels natural and real. and im only talking about the first verse the second verse? first off the beat switch on this song is immaculate, the glitching between the two stereo channels is so well done and makes total sense of the song, it's signifying a change in not only the beat, but of the mood of the song, its like changing the station on an old radio station. and kendrick's voice control on this song is so well done, as there arent any parts that feel forced, there's parts where he puts some force in his voice but its totally human. and the lyrics, well you can read them yourself but he is getting into real s--- alright, you can feel his pain as he delves into his battles with depression with the character of his subconscious, and the last lyrics? "and if i told your secrets? the world'll know money couldn't stop a suicidal weakness." its an extremely depressing affair from beginning that feel human. its funny how a lot of eminem's music has him feeling different from everyone else, like an alien of sorts, and that comes off in his lyrics and songwriting as it feels like its trying way too hard to fit in instead of letting things go naturally (which is evident in his earlier work).
May 15, 2016 lol, did i say eminem didnt have technique? what im trying to say is that technique isnt everything. i consider myself an emotional listener who really tries to pick apart emotion in the way someone raps/sings, and then later in the lyrics and on both fronts eminem fails for me
May 15, 2016 your link didnt work so i just opened up tpab on groove and played it. i already heard the song. but ok. Apart from the fact TPAB is a VERY cherry picked example, fine i gave you space bound and legacy as examples. Im not sure if this sounds like the version i have on my PC but after the introduction, you hear the instrumentals start with the sound of rain in the background. this sets the mood of the song. The first verse starts with him describing his emotional state when he was younger. The first line "I used to be the type of kid who, would always think the sky is falling" and this sets the precedence that eminem is the odd one out . How he feels about this is the theme of the song and in the first his emotions towards himself are that of low self esteem and doubt, with him getting bullied and being a defiant child because of his dad leaving him, the second verse starts the exact same way but halfway through the verse, in between him contemplating life he discovers rap. And this empowers him as is shown in the change in his tone of voice and his slight aggression. The third verse starts exactly the same way but with him acknowledging himself as being different and using it as his strength. The last verse was intentionally more 'forced' and aggressive because it is meant to represent his retaliation against quite frankly 'the entire world' that made him miserable in the past. i dont need to explain any of this to you if you actually listen to the song and he doesnt really use any gimmick or try to hard like in TPAB. What is wrong with this song. His technique is fine, his flow is fine and his lyrics are on point. I don't see any problem with this song. but you do somehow and you will openly contradict yourself to justify your apparent Eminem hate
May 15, 2016 @MTY thats also rather hypocritical to say that eminem uses a s-----y voice and then you post u as an example of good songwriting. you know if you actually listen to the words, Eminem songs are written pretty decently. here, just take a good read
May 15, 2016 d--- malik used legacy lmao as an example of good songwriting you don't know s--- about music son, stop it right there.
May 15, 2016 Yeah Eminem is usually pretty bad at composing music, using melodies and s--- like that.
May 15, 2016 At this point it's widely accepted that Eminem is a battle rapper "trying" to make music.
May 15, 2016 this is RAP for f--- sake are you saying eminem cant WRITE SONGS, USE LYRICS , FLOW ON A BEAT isnt that at this point all eminem has left??? wtf? be completely honest
May 15, 2016 YES, RAP IS A TYPE OF MUSIC THAT PLACES HEAVY FOCUS ON LYRICAL CONTENT . DOES EMINEM NOT HAVE LYRICS. you act is if kendrick was the one who composed tpab. no he f---ing didnt. he didnt make ANY of the instrumentals, HE DID 0 MIXING , 0 EDITING, 0 PRODUCTION. thats why the DJ was different from the MC. that's why rap is not the exact same thing as hip hop don't jump on the f---ing anti em train and say that just because he doesn't pick samples that suit you means he isnt lyrical. you sound like a f---ing idiot when you say that
