My problem with The Guest was how quickly everything went to s---. Not a whole lot of transition between mystery soldier sent to check on fallen soldiers family, and psychopathic killer wreaking havoc. Nothing notable anyway, to make the turn, just pretty much went from being protective over those he was perceived to care about, to being a one man army vs the world.

That was the point, David and his fellow soldiers were mentally programmed to k--- if there identity was comprimised, he didn't visit the family with the intent of killing them.
Which is why he apologies to the mother when he has to, and tells her Caleb would understand why he had to do it. It also seemed like a hestitated a bit with Anna and Luke.

i can't talk about The Guest right now. I don't have the brain power. It started off amazing, then flat lined. (for me at least)
