Here are my top 10 first time watches from the year:

    Dawn of the Dead
    Gummo
    Julien Donkey-Boy
    M
    Nashville
    Possession
    Repulsion
Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans
    The Face of Another
    Two-Lane Blacktop

I saw at least a hundred movies this year and only ~10 were from 2015. Ex Machina, Blackhat, and Going Clear were pretty good. Mad Max: Fury Road left me numb. Worst was Jurassic World.

    96 2015 films ranked: http://letterboxd.com/kamahmed/list/2015-ranked-1/

Not including films released in origin country pre-2015. (Jauja, Phoenix, etc. Bleed f---ing out of it with Kaguya, I didn't even consider it 2014)

oversights: Hard to be a God, Timbuktu, About Elly (if it counts), Carol, Girlhood, Heart of a Dog.

Top 10 (well, 11, cause I'm cutting and pasting top 10 and my #1 isn't on letterboxd).

    1. Innocence of Memories.

    Favorite performances?

    Cynthia Nixon in James White
    Shu Qi in the Assassin
    Charlotte Rampling in 45 Years
    Günes Sensoy in Mustang

Saoirse Ronan in Lost River (or Brooklyn I guess, but I liked her performance in this more)

Jan Bijvoet in Embrace of the Serpent
    Sigurður Sigurjónsson in Rams
    Michael Eklund in Eadweard

    Christopher Plummer in Remember
Paul Dano in Love and Mercy

im a member of BOFCA. and i hear you, this time of year, there's so much to see -- a normal person simply doesn't have the time to cover their bases. i watched a documentary recently while putting the commercials from fargo on mute.

Love & Mercy, Straight Outta Compton, The Gift were all entertaining, but flawed to me. not awfulllll like, say, Black Mass. never saw Steve Jobs, dunno why. Rogen any good?

I'd agree with your assessment on those 3, I thoroughly enjoyed those 3 but doubt they will make my finalized top 10 which is why I left them at runner up status. Didn't see Black Mass but I want to just because Depp looks great for the first time in...what, like a decade?

Steve Jobs is great - Sorkin is in fine form (not Social Network level brilliant, but a far cry from Newsroom level embarrassing). Rogen is fine but of course it's ultimately Fassbender's show
