Apr 4, 2017 uring their prime, 8 Mile was released, G-Unit was ruling and Dre beats were banging. MMLP classic, Get Rich Or Die Tryin was massive (classic album no denying), Dre released 2001, D12 and G-Unit two biggest groups of two biggest rappers. Yes, Proof's death was when the family foundation of Shady/Aftermath/G-Unit crumbled, Eminem Dre took hiatus, D12 indirectly had to stop as well. 50 Cent was carrying everything his whole team on his shoulders. Kudos to him, (people say Kanye beat 50 in 2007 and that's when Shady/Aftermath lost it's place in the industry), but technically, Curtis outsold Graduation internationally, so 50 still won; go anywhere in the world right now, more people know 50 than Kanye. Then in rumors of Eminem's return surfaced and he released Relapse, which is his third classic album after MMLP and TES. Not enough fans bought it, instead they supported Recovery which was not a traditional Eminem album at all. Heck, 50 was supposed to be on No Love but because of label issues with Jimmy Iovine it didn't happen. Eminem signed Slaughterhouse and Yelawolf. Eminem promoted Slaughterhouse shady debut album with all of his efforts. Appeared in My Life music video, Throw It Away music video and 3 features on the album (Frat House, Asylum and Our House) still fans didn't help the album reach Gold, he even supported 50 by featuring on his My Life, even Dr. Dre supported 50 by featuring in his single New Day; Snoop as well for Major Distribution. 50 was still repping his clique hard even though Jimmy Iovine tried his best to black ball him. But everything changed when Kendrick Lamar dropped Good Kid maad City. He was the youngest member and brought in a younger generation of fans, he then help 50 by appearing in the We Up single. Eminem promoted the heck out of it on his social media as well. Eminem then included Kendrick on MMLP2 and let him cameo in the Berzerk music video, this was the start of Shady/Aftermath return to form! few months later in Feb 50 left the label because of Jimmy Iovine delaying 50. 50 was supposed to appear on Schoolboy Q's album Oxymoron but interscope didn't let the track pass through. Isaiah Rashad drops Cilvia Demo. Animal Ambition drops and Schoolboy Q is featured. Eminem released Shady XV to promote his artists, slaughterhouse stole the show yet no fan appreciation, album still went gold. Released the same day as an MMG project as well (Nov 24) Eminem still supported 50 in his beef against Rick Ross through sales fight and to steal the attention away from MMG. Fast forward to 2015, two movies are being released, Southpaw and Compton; Shady Records handles soundtrack for southpaw, 50 appears in the movie, Aftermath handles soundtrack of Compton. Dre releases compton album too and TPAB is a classic (Dre and Snoop Dogg featured). Love Story releases (Eminem appears on Best Friend; 50 was supposed to be on Johnny Cash). Kendrick Lamar becomes the new face of the three headed giant. 2016 was a good year, Blank Face LP, Sun's Tirade and Untitled Unmastered. Now 2017 will be the 2nd 2015 in terms of the family's output, Kendrick dropping, Q dropping, 50 dropping, Jon Connor dropping, Eminem dropping, Yelawolf dropping, Anderson. Paak dropping, Jay Rock dropping, SZA dropping.. The question is ARE YOU FANS GOING TO SUPPORT AND LET THE BEST LABEL SINCE 1999 continue ruling hip hop, continue setting it's standards? Will you let the millennium of Aftermath happen? Kendrick is the legacy of Dr. Dre and his rivals of this era are Drake (legacy of Lil Wayne), Big Sean (legacy of Kanye West) and J. Cole (legacy of Jay Z). Kendrick, his TDE camp, Jon Connor, Yelawolf, Hall N' Nash, Slaughterhouse and Anderson. Paak are the new era of the Aftermath family. Lil Wayne's legacy is Lil Yachty and Uzi Vert. Are we gonna do our duty as fans?? (I'm not saying J. Cole and Big Sean are trash) Will you support and buy Kendrick Lamar's album on the 7th and let Dr. Dre take the W?
Apr 4, 2017 Is 50 more known globally than Kanye tho? Kanye has had basically 50's entire career over 2x, is super popular in pop culture rn, owns a fashion line and married to kim kardashian
Apr 4, 2017 Yeah but you have to understand people outside the states don't follow Kim K, and 50 comes in movies that people go watch in the cinema. Eminem and 50 Cent are two names that always follow one another. People who don't even listen to hip hop know about 50, he's a household name.
Apr 4, 2017 I don't know about the States, but 50 was much more known in Europe than Kanye tbh. 50 was everywhere back in the day and still to this day his songs are played in the radio.
Apr 4, 2017 Shady Records is a poorly run record label. They either sign acts that can't create much of a buzz (Stat Quo, Cashis, Bobby Creekwater) or can't do more for artists with a solid fanbase (Slaughterhouse, Yelawolf). The best time to sign with that label was in the early 2000s, when artists like D12 and Obie banked off the hype of Em and then 50.
Apr 4, 2017 50 Cent and Eminem more popular outside USA. 50 and Em still touring in Europe. last Kanye shows was cancelled.
Apr 4, 2017 50 Cent - is a classic for world pop culture. Kanye - was hipsters idol during 2007-2010. In 2017 people don't give a f--- about Kanye (outside USA)
Apr 4, 2017 I definitely disagree with this statement .How can a person who made some worth knowing album more than 10 years ago be more known than Kanye f---ing West
Apr 4, 2017 Kanye was popular in 2007-2010. last Kanye albums = garbage. Kanye no have any fan base outside USA right now. He's career as artist = dead.
Apr 4, 2017 Fans didn't support because it's a lame label with lame merch and horrible follow through
