Nov 5, 2016 Snapchat just flipped a switch and are now detecting users with Phantom third party software from Cydia installed. Threatening to ban / lock accounts if in violation. The message reads: Hi there! It looks like you're using a third-part app to access Snapchat. We prohibit the use of third-party apps as they can compromise your accounts security. If you keep using third-party apps, your Snapchat account will be locked for 12 hours.
Nov 5, 2016 Software you can install via Cydia if your iPhone is jailbroken. Allows you to save snaps, use existing photos/videos, etc. Sneaky s---.
Nov 5, 2016 i mean, not really. it's their app and these kinds of things completely undermine the point of the way it functions
Nov 5, 2016 I only halfway agree with this. Yes, it's their app. And ofc they should be able to try and dictate how it's used... That said, I use phantom mostly solely for two reasons: 1.) the ability to use pre-existing images (without it having that ugly white border). And within that purpose, i solely use it to add coherent images to My Story... Snapchat should have a "queue" where you can take photos/videos, add them to your queue, and then publish the entire queue at a single time to your story. Otherwise, as it runs today, the stories are incoherent and someone may view it in pieces, resulting in it not really reading like a "story" at all. For this oversight on snapchat's behalf, I dot feel bad at all for using phantom. And 2.) User groups/lists. Such a no-brained to have this in the native app, and yet they haven't implemented such an easy piece of functionality.
Nov 5, 2016 ...there's a lot of great ideas that come from third party software, that probably should be implemented in the native app. Not all of them are disruptive (like secretly saving images/videos, for example)
Nov 5, 2016 This has happened to me b4 with Xposed i think, didn't even get any warning just one day my account was logged off and couldn't log in, just gave me an error
Nov 5, 2016 i mean i understand the added functionality, but from their perspective they have to do this, because while you may not have any malicious intent with something like this, other people do, and so they need to crack down on it, and since they can't determine who's using these kinds of things for what, it has to be a sweeping ban on it
Nov 5, 2016 I tweeted the creator of Phantom (@CokePokes). Will post any updates. Else, best recommendation is to temporarily uninstall Phanton until resolved.
Nov 5, 2016 I used to get these messages all the time cuz I would use one of those apps to save nudes from girls but I stopped giving a s--- if they knew and just started screenshotting them.
Nov 5, 2016 Remember 6snap... Partridge Farms remembers. srs note that was the only Snapchat client for Windows Phone and after a bunch of nudes let out, they actively went against the guy who made it; they even took down 6discover. Windows Phone owners in poverty levels right now.
