Many teenagers in the 2000s wanted to be like Eminem or 50 Cent. I don't remember anyone saying "oh man, I wanna be like Lil Wayne or Kanye West."

Em and 50 were like the same guys from your neighborhood, so they became hip-hop idols. Lil Wayne or Kanye just had some popular songs, they weren't idols for millions of young people around the world, they were just like pop music that was popular in a certain period of time.

I can confirm that people now remember 50 Cent more than Lil Wayne, and it's definitely not because 50 Cent is doing a TV show. People just love his old songs and come back to them from time to time.

I remember how many countries there were on the 50 Cent touring schedule. he has always toured and even visited countries where he was the only American rapper ever to come.

50 Cent even performed in Kosovo. Eminem has never been to Kosovo. 50 Cent has performed in many countries where Eminem or other American rappers have never even been. 50 Cent has always been very huge outside the US.

    https://www.billboard.com/articles/news/1047012/50-cent-performs-in-kosovos-capital/

Dua Lipa said she was at that concert then. If Eminem performed in Kosovo, then Dua Lipa could go to his concert, but Eminem has never been to Kosovo.

50 Cent has such a big impact in the world even in 2021, a decade after the release of the last significant album. This is because he has traveled to a huge number of countries around the world. People remember how they went to his concert when they were young and therefore they go to YouTube and listen to his old songs, remembering their youth.

Wayne had a pretty big cult in 08 and on. Maybe not as much as Em and 50, but he was pretty popular. C3 pushed him to the top.

And Kanye had everyone wanting to get some Yeezys.

Kanye and Lil Wayne have not been popular outside of the US since 2014. They are now local American rappers.

50 Cent in 2021 has more influence outside the US than Kanye and Lil Wayne, and you can see it in the numbers. It doesn't matter what the US thinks about them, but they are no longer big international rap artists.

Wayne is huge but I think he and Jay aren't that huge internationally although the Bey connection gives Hov the edge over Weezy.

Kanye is huge internationally though. Ye and JIK are both straight trash but still did better numbers/streams overseas than C5 and 4:44 combined.

Eminem and Tupac I think are the most famous rappers overseas in the sense of not just fame but how revered they are. If you ask people in Nigeria, Japan, Bulgaria, or Guatemala who their favorite rappers are, one of them will probably get named. 50 and Snoop are up next. Drake is huge but I wonder how many people outside North America even view him as a rapper.

No, this is not entirely accurate information. Yes, everyone knows about Tupac outside the US, but not everyone was Tupac's fans when he was alive (I'm talking about people outside the US). Many people outside the US learned about Tupac in the 2000s and he became a legend for these people, but they were not his fans during the years when Tupac was alive, because during his lifetime Tupac was a local rapper (he became a big international rapper after of death).

The most famous rappers in the world are Eminem and 50 Cent, followed by rappers like Dr. Dre, Snoop and Tupac (for adult people) and Drake, Lil Wayne, Kanye (for younger people). Perhaps it will sound strange, but Lil Pump was also popular in the world with his hit Gucci g---, this song is known to every young man outside the US.

In most countries, hip-hop culture didn't even exist in the 90s because the world didn't see the white rapper Eminem. Therefore, people outside the United States did not even know that Tupac existed in the 90s when he was alive. But Tupac became legendary after Eminem came along because people watched documentaries on MTV and VH1 about Tupac and so now everyone knows that Tupac existed and respects him.

But if we are talking about which rappers had the most fans in the world, then it was only 2 people - Eminem and 50 Cent. No other rapper has ever had as many fans in the world as Eminem and 50 Cent in the 2000s.

And naturally, almost every fan of Em and 50 knows and respects Dr. Dre, just as they respect Tupac. People learned from Em and 50 that Dre and Tupac were very respected and famous rappers in the 90s.

For example, in Asia they didn't even know that there was hip-hop culture in the 90s, and look how many albums Eminem sells now, for example, in China or other Asian countries. The same can be said about Europe, where many countries became independent (for example, like Kosovo) and where people in the 90s did not even know that hip-hop existed. The world learned about rap music because of Eminem in the early 2000s and then 50 Cent came with huge hits. Such songs as In Da Club, Candy Shop, Ayo Technology, Lose Yourself, LTWYL were heard by people in every country of our planet. I don't think any other rap songs were as huge as these.

I think Wayne was more known, he had a big cult like I said, C3 and the feats gave him that.

Kanye blew up because of the shoes and Kim/Trump. But I don't think his music was that big outside of the US.

Weed also helped Snoop a lot. He's that dude that smokes a lot of weed. But can people name a Snoop song from the last decade outside of the US?
